Unless he has a crappy credit score, he is gonna get raped.
Get the VIN and see what the bank or credit union will finance the vehicle for.
Dealers and car lots make YUGE OT $$ on financing and other ridiculous add-ons like VIN etching, rust protection, nitrogen air in tires, even GAP protection (make sure to read the terms very careful and shop around for GAP protection if that is what you want).
Watch out for DOC fees, Louisiana has a max fee which is a little over $400. Destination fees(unless a new vehicle), advertising fees, marketing/advertising fees are BS and should be told to take out the deal.
BTW, get a final price, better known as 'Out The Door Pricing' that is itemized and in writing. Forget the monthly payment scam, that is where a person gets screwed royally. Get a bottom-line price in writing and go from there.
Don't be afraid to walk. You are not there to be 'friends' or Mr. Nice Guy. You are there to get the best deal possible.
I know TL but this could save you thousands of $$

I'm thinking of an Accord for the next car for my wife(no pics) but I'm a little wary of the CVT transmission. I have heard the Honda's are one of the more reliable of those.

1.5L engine? frick I didn’t know they came that small. Does it run on pop rocks and coke?

What’s wrong with the boy? He’s a grown man. Tell him to buy his own car and stop being a little bitch.

26k for a used Accord with 50k miles?
Have car prices really gotten that insane?

I wouldn’t buy anything from Matt Bower not even a coke out of their vending machine. The most deceitful dealer I’ve ever had the misfortune of doing business with.

I would look at something new vs used. The new Chevy Trax has been a good little car in this price range. I know a lot of people have been buying it for their child’s first vehicle because it’s a better investment than paying high prices for something used.

What hell is wrong with him? I am not a professional and by 27 I had done bought 3 different vehicles on my own and had my house built.
OP says the son is looking for a car. Not that OP is buying the car.

If he is 27 and a professional the he should be buying his own car. Don't take the responsibility from him. You are doing him no favor.

I was 27 when I bought my first car with father's help. No shame in it

I paid for my own car (a 68 Roadrunner) when i was 16 and in h.s. Paid for it with my hay hauling money that I saved up.

This line of thought is so tired and ridiculous. I have two smart, responsible children and I bought both of them brand new vehicles when they turned 16. Both vehicles have been well kept and have none of the issues you describe. It all depends on the child.

Someone with wholesale license has to buy the vehicle. Find a small dealer or car lot willing to do the paperwork. Tell them what you’re willing to pay and buy the car as is. Enterprise is strict about what they sell and don’t sell cars with known issues and won’t have any damage more than very minor scratches/ dings. Buy it as is and save $5k-$7k. Most smaller dealers are more than willing to do the paperwork, title transfer for $500.

The old way of thinking is for a world that doesn't exist anymore.
Now, I want vehicles that are fully protected and warrantied by someone not Me.
I got tired of spending every weekend working on paid off vehicles in my buddies garage. My time is worth more than that.
