Women do.

If you attempt this, make sure she asks for a male doctor before she starts crying.

I lost a Weimaraner to bloat. Get your lab to the vet and hope all goes well.

Let me tell you something from a 2X lab owner.

3 weeks ago my pup was similar to yours. Lethargic, down in the dumps, just general malaise. Didn’t want to walk or anything.

FF to two days later, took her in for a screen and sho’ nuff- an 8-10cm tumor on her spleen + one of her ovaries was double the size or the other one also with a tumor.

She had surgery the next day and now she’s happy and vibrant once again. Go get your pup scanned!

Not to be morbid but this kind of a similar thing happened to my old 11 year old cat. She wouldn’t eat anything all of the sudden, would barely even nibble on cooked pork. Took her to the vet and she had lymphoma that was too late to do anything about. Get that pup checked out asap.

My daughter has a lab that had similar symptoms. Turned out to be Addison’s disease. It’s manageable with steroids, but expensive. The dog is doing great now. Good luck!

At 14 years that would be a good chance.

14 months? Damn near zero chance of lymphoma.

Probably ate something that she can't pass.

Sounds like your dog ate or swallowed something which is causing GI blockage of some sort. Could be gastritis too either way go to the ER vet and next time you call your vet be more open about the symptoms and not just he wont eat. Or maybe get a new vet

Purina one true instinct. He was on science diet after I took him off puppy food but he hated it.

Labs, especially feisty ones, are notorious for getting a little too rowdy and twisting their stomachs and/or intestines. But there's usually pretty obvious signs outwardly and their downturn happens within hours. Doesn't sound like the case here so much, but maybe yours is minor or just a particularly tough dog.

My bet is on eating something fibrous like a sock, towel, rope, etc. that has caused a blockage. They'll usually try to eat grass and drink a ton of water in this case

Do you have azaleas around your house?

Or any of these:

quote:

Azalea. Azaleas are considered one of the most poisonous plants to pets, as all parts of the plant are classified as moderately to extremely toxic. ...
Aloe Vera. ...
Ivy. ...
Daffodil. ...
Tomato Plant. ...
Hydrangeas. ...
Oleanders. ...
Amaryllis.

If so, he may have eaten some and gotten sick.

The symptoms you described correlate with plant poisoning

Animals can get cancer at any age. My cat was really healthy for about 10 years until we found out about the tumor. I’m just saying animals don’t pretend to be ill, and it’s nice to hope it’s something as simple as he ate something he can’t pass but he should be checked out.

Intestinal Torsion

Pretty serious if not taken care of. I know a couple of owners who have experienced this with their Labs.

Take dog to the vet. Emergency vet is expensive but worth it.

Do you have a daughter? Not like a 5 year old or that young but get her to call the vet and cry on the phone. I’m not even kidding that it’s worked for some friends of mine after her dog got bit by another one and there were no available appointments. Nobody tells a crying girl no.
