Here’s another way to help.

Sparta Candles has been giving candles away. People wanted to help so now they’re “selling” candles for $10 but the candles are being donated to those without electricity.

They last for 65 hours.

That could happen with taxpayer money going to Trans people in a country that doesn’t really do the LBGTQUIA+ BS. As soon as the right people find out about said Trans people, those Trans people aren’t long for this world. The same can be said for the Billions that have went towards a war that only has a few outcomes. However, the longer that war lasts, it’s printing money and popping champagne bottles for the Military Industrial Complex that infested our government long before most of was were even born.

The purpose of the Federal Goverment isn’t to make you whole in a disaster.

That’s why you buy an insurance policy for replacement value and temporary housing.

It also isn’t for shipping our money overseas or house illegal aliens. That’s the rub here.

Pretty sure State Farm doesn't have helicopters or soldiers.

I thought the Fed had a massive currency printer. Just run that thing 24/7 until there's enough cash

Death toll now up to 184 from 167 yesterday with 92 of those in NC. Helene is now the deadliest US hurricane since Katrina.
absolutely terrible. The people who showed it tracking west through middle tn should be drawn and quartered. This makes me sick to my stomach seeing the videos of those poor people caught up in the mountains. Truly disgusting the way the government is trying to shift blame from their incompetent weather models to crying about climate change. frick these evil people.

We can't predict where a storm is heading with actual fricking current wind and pressure data but we know with 1000% certainty what the weather will be in 50 years.

Who had mountain hurricane on their 2024 bingo card?

No they didn’t. FEMA said they have plenty of cash right now, but if there’s another major hurricane this season they may need additional funds.

Dude, I don’t care what track forecast you were looking at or focused on, but it was very clearly showing a forecast of major flood event rain all in these areas.
Go back in the thread if you want to see it.
It doesn’t matter anyway.

100% agree with this, I was only talking about the guy complaining about the size of cash payments. You can’t eat or drink cash in Asheville where there’s no commerce at this point.

But it is their jobs to give Ukrainians, Israelis, and the Taiwanese blank checks to fund their wars. Got it.

you do realize that the center of circulation passed over Tenn but that doesn't mean the effects won't be felt far away from there especially on the east side right?

While the starlink service is free, you have to drop like $340 on the equipment - was not expecting that

I saw that too, and on top of that delivery would be 1-2 weeks. Unsure if the 30 day service would start upon delivery or at the time of order.

Also, they said i wouldnt be locked into a contract but the device fee made me feel like theres no choice. Will stick with my current provider and hope service comes back up soon.

Our local meteorologist posted the key take away form one of the NHC discussions and #3 was landslides in Appalachia.

Now. Did the local news/weather people there report this?? They should have. Maybe they did. Idk. But NHC discussed it.

That doesn’t make this any less tragic .. and no insurance companies aren’t going to get people out.

FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY.

This is a federal emergency .. and they’re not managing it very well it seems.

Apparently a helicopter service out of Atlanta rescued 5 people then charged them $1,000 per person for the privilege
