My friends house in ST Pete just a few mins ago. Two more hours of rise to go
They might luck out and trap a few snook in that pool.

Reporting in from Punta Gorda again
I’m in Babcock Ranch and we had it pretty easy today. We had some early morning rain, but by 10 that was done and didn’t get another drop until this evening. We had steady wind all day, but nothing too bad

Did you live there for Charley?

My house in apollo beach is right on the water. Not there thanks to military bs, but a ton of homes have flooded and the water is only rising. Can see it rise on my outside cameras

Awesome to hear that.
I went to the other side of hwy 17 by the harbor, Darst Park. That's where the real problems are. That and downtown PG. I wonder how Harbor Heights did?
I had no idea there were 3 of us who post in here who live in PG. Tigerdroppings is the tie that binds.

9.11’ above normal, or above projected storm levels? Link please
Level is now 9.4 feet above normal predicted lunar tide which is a 2.85 foot high tide right now.
Current Water level above mean low tide (MLLW) is 12.25 feet.
NOAA Tides and Currents
Chart below is relative to mean high tide (MHHW) but same gauge

I moved back to New Orleans from Port Charlotte/North Port right before Charley hit, then back to Florida two months before Katrina hit.
Wild timing. But, I did come here after it passed because I have a lot of family here. It was crazy to see how small the radius of damage was, but just how much damage it did.

Yeah Charley was about a 10 mile wide buzzsaw with 175 mph gusts in that tiny swath of hurricane winds. Punta Gorda was wrecked. The only reason (well not the only reason but you know what I mean) I know where Punta Gorda is, is because of Hurricane Charley while I was growing up.

Water is about get into some of the homes behind the clam factory. That entire neighborhood might be under in another hour or two.

Tampa is purportedly a mess, water looking to peak around 9’ downtown at 2 am. Ft Myers will have their 2nd highest surge ever

Ok I don’t follow like most of yall but how is this a cat 4 when almost all winds are 30-50 mph when this is hitting? Could probably read more but been drinking

Yeah, PG has quite a few mobile home parks. That is the first and last time I've ever seen them totally flattened. Even Ian didn't do what Charley did. Of course, the building has gotten better since then, but there were neighborhoods where nothing was left standing. Surreal stuff.

I have no qualifications, but those readings don’t track for me... For instance, the gauge in Pensacola says it’s 2.33’ above normal tide, but I live 100 miles east of the Pcola gauge and west of the cape, and our water is AT MOST 1’ above normal.

Monticello and Live Oak look like the unlucky places that will get the eyewall but not the eye meaning no break from damaging winds and torrential rain.

Call me a conspirator as well. NHS isn’t accurate.
