There are times that remind me why I love this place. This is one of them.

Of all the derailments of these threads over the years, this is by far the best one.
Motel 6 Cory Chase in here.

Agreed. I never know what I'll find opening a thread

What time are we expecting landfall? High tide is around midnight.

I dunno what motivates people to post some of the personal things they do. But posting a pic in a hurricane thread is not something I expected.

I was thinking Red Roof Inn, but I don’t want them to keep the lights on for me

HAFS-A 18z run seemed to have a pretty good handle on where Helene is now (972mb at 7pm was the model prediction). It still got her down to 944mb and up to 140mph before landfall.
The simulated IR didn’t have a well defined eye until mid morning tomorrow on that run.
Yeah, the A does seem to be doing better short-term vs. the other 3 operational hurricane models. The other 3 get it down in the 920s.
At 06z, the A still appears to have the best handle on the system. It only gets it down to 950s with a peak wind around 90 knots. I'm sure it has already been covered in this thread, but the NHC cut their forecast back from 130 mph to 115 mph with the 4:00 am update.

rds, how much of an impact does a storm like this going through the gulf make on water temps for something coming up behind it 7 days later this time of the year nearing October? helps at all?

She’s a good sport. Let’s honor that.
