We're not like the regular communists...we're the cool communists.

Don't care what they introduce.
How do they plan to enforce.

Don't see how they can stop existing ones. Might run afoul of the Takings Clause.
Should stop additional ones from opening though.

Can’t we just enforce/ modify current zoning instead of new legislation?

pull permits
block Air BnB from advertising in the city.....
impose fines and/or liens

Yeah, this is a great plan for a city that basically exists because of tourism. So stupid only NOLA would propose it.

How are they grandfathering themselves in?

Personally or they gonna have a task force?
Because I love a task force.

I know this sounds witty to you, but you also need people to work at those hotels and restaurants and in general jobs all around the city.
STR’s are killing real estate for people. The bachelorette party can stay at 1 of 1000 hotels in New Orleans.

I don’t see what it is hurting? All it does is raise property value which then drives revenue for the city. I’m assuming the hotels are in their ear. Morena has the uptown old money which I assume is tied to a lot of the boutique hotels. Or their constituents are bitching about the inability to find “affordable housing”.

Nola gets around 13% tax from hotels and around 7% tax from airbnbs. They much rather have more hotel tourists than Airbnb tourists.

Just what you posted. Pville is just for months without an r.
They are missing the opportunity to tax the frick out of the STRs, fund NORD or whatever they decide. Outlaw them through attrition.

If I had to give Helena a grade, she’d get a D.

This will happen. There’s nothing that will stop it. Too many liberals in the mix to nix it. Unfortunate for the small people who are supplementing income. Commercial STR’s bout to pop off.

Ding ding. There it is.

That's why the city/metro area has hotels and condos being built at record pace

How's the hospitality lobby in NOLA?
Posted on 9/6/23 at 8:34 pm to tgrbaitn08
Question, does AirBNB or VRBO actually own the properties or are they more of a middle man that connects "renters" with "owners".
This quote really seems misleading,
Am I completely turned around here and missing how this stops corporations or is this like most laws that the name is opposite of what is intended?
This quote really seems misleading,
quote:. So banning non-commercial STR's, will stop corporations. Seems it stops "mom and pop" owners that might have an extra unit to rent out which in turn actually helps corporate STR's.
