I used to have to get up middle of night to pee consistently, but god better about not drinking as much water an hour or so before bed which has helped.

I've heard/read that sometimes it is more related to sleep apnea or other sleep issues. You're waking up for some reason, but it isn't because you have to pee. You decide, or your brain just tells you, to go pee while you're awake. I do have a family member we would get up to pee three or four times a night. After he went for a sleep study and got a cpap machine, some nights he doesn't get up at all.

Almost 59 yrs. that's one of the questions my HCP always asks me. if I have to get up in the night. not really middle but always around 5-6 am. which leads to laying awake for an hour. much rather go at 2 am, then I'd go right back to sleep. I had an abdom MRI a few yrs ago and it said I had a severely enlarged prostate. but I haven't seen any ill effects so far.

Would I rather be dehydrated or drink enough and have to get up in the night and be sleep deprived?

How old are you? I'm 62 and that is not a thing for me as of yet. But I do not sleep as much as I used to, either.

My Dad has kept a "piss jug" under the bed for 20 years.

I get up at least once a night to piss, sometimes twice

It’s when you start pissing on yourself that you should probably go see a doctor

Almost 63 and if I don’t drink much after 8:00 pm, I can sleep straight through all night.

No C-Pap, no meds, just good dietary habits, lotsa exercise, and good DNA.

Part of the payoff from taking care of myself, I would say.

Not there yet but do any of y’all use a bedpan? Seems like it would be better than getting up and walking multiple times every night

I’m almost 53 and have to get up maybe once a night every 3 weeks or so. Last night I ate a bunch of watermelon before going to bed so right at 3am I was up.

Wait till you get prostate issues and take Flowmax, then you will know the urgency of needing to get up and pee

I had a friend who woke up his wife in the middle of the night, getting out of bed. She watched as he stepped across their bedroom and peed in the laundry basket full of clothes beside the bathroom door. Be sure you are fully awake when you get up to go take a leak.

As for me, my get up for the bathroom time is 2:15 am, give or take 5 minutes. I guess my bladder is a creature of habit.
