We did Sunday of Labor Day weekend. With a lot of out of town guests, we did it to avoid them using pto to come. If they can’t due to a vacation, it is what it is

Must not hunt or know any baws that do. If you are a Bama fan, was it a day we were playing a cream puff? Sept gets some slack for football Saturday plans, so really Oct-Jan.

I hunt and fish, was in the woods last weekend. Bama was playing Arkansas that day, and lost.

By definition I think that makes you inconsiderate/selfish
It makes me a guy who doesn't sweat the small stuff or really have much tolerance for people who do.

I'll put it this way, if someone is the type of person to be offended or upset that I didn't go to their wedding, they're probably not the type of person I'd be friends with to begin with.

Really? If I'm going to get dressed up and go out anyway on NYE, might as well go to a wedding and get free booze.

People who complain about when people choose to have their wedding are the worst. It's their goddamn wedding, let them have it whenever they want. If you are that much of a shite friend or family, don't go.

Agree with this way too, if you want to complain about people not showing up. Do it on a weekend that doesn't typically impact others, even then you shouldn't expect everyone to show.

Yea, that's my thing. I have no issues with anyone having their wedding whenever they please. I also have no issue with anyone skipping my wedding for any reason they please. It's a very simple way to live life and not worry about meaningless shite.

Well, you are correct, selfishness is simple.

Not sweating stuff that have no tangible affect on your life, give it a shot.

You sound high maintenance, as I said, I do a good job of filtering out the type of dudes who would get mad if I didn't attend their wedding, so it works for me.

That isnt my point in this thread

I have absolutely skipped weddings to do shite I want to do instead

I also dont think it is a big deal

My point is, I own it and say it is because I wanted to do my own thing. I dont try and turn it around on the person that got married and blame them for "putting it on that weekend".....

That wasn't your point on page 1 when you said it was trashy, so you're now essentially calling yourself trashy?

A dude that would be upset with his buddy for missing his wedding...yea I think it's fair to say that's a high maintenance friend.

Dudes caring that deeply about their bros at their wedding is pretty weird, to be honest.

I 100% make trashy decisions, yes

But I think it is trashier to miss a wedding to cheer on your tide, than to say go to punta cana on a schedule vacation

Whats the OT thoughts on scheduling a wedding during a holiday weekend?

Which one?

I have been to NYE weddings, also been to one the Saturday after Thanksgiving... didn't bother me at all.

Was in a wedding Easter weekend this year, it was a really good time.

I wouldn't have a problem with going to one on Memorial Day weekend either, or Labor Day weekend even.

Christmas wedding, that would be a dick move.

Nah, I couldn't tell you who all missed mine. My point is the way I personally would feel if I were to miss a good friend's wedding because I wanted to watch a ballgame instead, one, which in these days, you can record. It would make me feel selfish.

Look, at 55 I just seem to have a lot more care in me these days than in my youth. Maybe it's a growing older thing in which you realize the more important things in life.

To each his own.
