Depends on who it is. If it's a close friend you're most likely in the wedding and getting to spend time with the people who have naturally drifted away throughout the years. It turns into a big party to remember the earlier times and swap repeated stories over and over while getting hammered. Oh, and celebrating their marriage.

If it's just an acquaintance that fricks up the extended weekend, then I think it's selfish and I give the marriage 2 years.

So no marriages between Sept 1 & Dec 1? Weddings are typically on Saturday you know.

Folks can have their marriages whenever they want. But if there's a big LSU game, just don't expect me to attend. Simple enough.

Nah, if LSU is playing Bama, I'm not going to a wedding, it really isn't a big deal.

Anyone I'm close enough to wouldn't schedule a wedding on a day like that any way. And if I'm not super close to you, you shouldn't really care if I attend your wedding or not.

Unless it's a tiny wedding, most people wouldn't even notice if you were there or not with how much shite they have to be involved in during a wedding, so it's just not that important for me to attend.

I had a destination wedding over Memorial Day weekend. My wife and I enjoyed it and the people we wanted to be there were there so I don’t really care what anyone else thought about it.

My wedding day was on a September saturday and Bama was playing. The ceremony was held before kickoff with the reception right down the road in a big banquet hall. I had a huge big screen set up with the game starting right after the reception started. It was a big party, great time.

Depends where, decent location on Memorial Day/Labor Day is ok, but I don't want to be in some shite place those weekends. So BVI I'm in, Leesville not so much.

I will say the best wedding that I've ever been to was on NYE.

Was a very well to do family in Nola, and the reception was 6 hours, 7pm-1am, and it was top shelf everything.

This is my thing. Rich or not, if you have your wedding on a party holiday you need to make sure the reception is a party.

Something like that.

Sounds like fun. If that much effort was put into it, and that info was available upon receipt of the invitation, I’d have likely come to my good friend BillBrosky’s wedding.

I didn't hold grudges are care for 1 second for anyone who didn't attend my wedding for any reason they had.

I don't care about shite that just isn't that important or doesn't affect my life. You should try it, you'd be much happier.

It generally makes you ignorant or an a-hole, especially if it is a set holiday vs a floating one like Mardi Gras or Easter.

Kind of like women who schedule a November wedding up against LSU-Bama then complain about no-shows or people leaving early.

So you can’t get married in the fall because some men like football

Well the spring is out because what douche gets married when the fishing gets hot

Winter is out because people love to hunt

Summer is inconsiderate because of holidays and people have vacation planned

The truth is, it is one weekend. If you can’t give up one weekend, you just don’t care about that person or have some selfishness

Now, in saying that, it isn’t a huge deal.

By definition I think that makes you inconsiderate/selfish

Oh, I'm plenty happy because I have people close to me that I show respect and they in turn do the same. Nope, not a selfish bone in this old man's body. Thanks for showing me more consideration than the people "close to you" though.

Seems like a pain in the arse for the reason that from now on you’d have to do anniversary stuff with her every year the holiday falls on the weekend instead of being able to lounge around and be lazy.

Basically, know your audience.

The best man from my wedding got married on the day of LSU-Wisconsin a few years back.

He’s from Baton Rouge and the wife and her family are from Wisconsin, but neither of them gave a shite about football and neither did most of the attendees considering it was held in California and most of the attendees were from there or Florida.

Didn’t stop some some of us from getting game updates during the reception.

A woman in southeast Louisiana who has her wedding the date of either a home game or a major rivalry game (Bama, Florida, Auburn, etc) should know the invitees well enough to figure out if they’ll blow off the wedding.

Better than a wedding on a college football Saturday

Especially when they creep into hunting season, which for me, is generally every college football Sat.

Guys that have weddings from Sept-Jan have no pimp hand.

Which holidays we talking? If its MLK or Presidents Day weekend, then who cares. But if they do it on July 4, Memorial Day or Labor Day weekend, then they better be prepared for a lot of their invited guests to not be at the wedding because they already had vacations planned.
