You're being absolutely ridiculous in these last few pages.
Quite the opposite actually. I'm the one not sweating it either way if I'm on either side of the posed hypothetical, so it's actually the opposite of being ridiculous and the exact opposite of trying too hard.

My first kid was born on my anniversary. This year i'm inviting everyone to me and my wifes 4th anniversary party.
My third is due in 3 weeks. Could come early and be on our anniversary, or on my wife's birthday, or on time and all 3 of those will fall within 6 days of each other. Back in late August I wasn't thinking about that possibility. I was just half drunk and having fun on a Saturday night and didn't take precautions.

If that's the logic, my 8/20 wins.

My point on page 4 was how it would personally make me feel if I were the one skipping out.

After? Yeah.
Some are pretty nonchalant and don't actually care if so and so makes it to their wedding or not, it's not a big deal.

Precisely why my wife and I are waiting and just being selfish for a few more years before kids. Well that's the plan anyways.
Nothing selfish about that. We went to Hawaii for our 3rd, NYC for our 5th, and New Orleans for our 7th when our oldest was still in daycare. Since then I think our anniversary has just been going out to dinner or cooking something special. Not that I mind, but the days of hitting a beach when kids are still in school so nothing is crowded are gone for a few more years. Just gotta stick it out until the oldest can drive and take care of the rest and we're back to actually taking a trip.

We had almost everyone on our list attend.

Only know because the caterer told our parents.

We'll be in New Orleans for 3 days for our 2nd this year after a week at the condo in Florida. Commander's on the actual day.
We just stayed in Dallas last year after a week at the condo, but went to a super nice steakhouse.

your priorities change
I personally would never get married on gameday, but I feel ya here.
On January 9, 2012, Jones vowed to stop giving so much of a shite about football that it ruins his night/weekend. When the game is over, it is over. No pissy mood, no skipping out on going out.. it just isn't worth ruining your weekend over.
This month, we gave up our season tickets. Shitty coach combined with the way a home game takes over your entire weekend off just wasn't worth it.
I'll personally never have my wedding on gameday because we still watch every game and care enough in that regard, but I no longer give a shite what others do. We won't be missing any weddings over LSU football. I wouldn't put friends/family in that position personally, but I also would never be the person skipping.
I don't get invited to weddings that aren't for people I'm very close to, so that's not really something I need to differentiate.

quote:Same for me but on the other end at 8/22...it's always the 1st week of school. Stinks, but we're not picky about the actual date, if we can celebrate it, big or small, a week or 2 before, that's just as good. More of that low maintenance stuff.
Be careful getting married in May or August though, because school schedules can vary on where you live. We got married in the middle of May. At the time, it seemed perfect. Between semesters of college, not really summer time yet, and before we had kids, even the first several years after, it was a perfect time for a long weekend getaway to celebrate. Then your oldest starts K5 and you realize there's a good 1.5-2 weeks left of school every year on your anniversary, and you'd much rather take an anniversary trip but it means lots of hoops to jump through so they don't miss school.

FWIW, the more you post, the more you're mostly on the same page with me. The only difference is you personally feel bad if you miss one, but you even stated it doesn't bother you if your friends missed yours, so you're closer to my line of thinking than you think IMO.

Well you usually have a good idea before the day of since you have RSVPs. People who RSVP yes and then no show are pretty shitty without a pretty good reason. A lot of money is dependent on an accurate head count.
We had an adults only wedding so I definitely understood that some people with kids just couldn't make it, but we also had some that RSVPd yes and just didn't show. Just kinda rude, and I'm about as laid back as you can be about that stuff.

In my 20s, if LSU played the 230 afternoon game and lost, I'd just be in a bad mood and probably not go anywhere. It's not like you couldn't talk to me or anything but i'd just have that bad feeling.
Now, like you said, once the game is over, I'm moving on...except for that last year's Saints playoff loss, that was different!!!

Yeah, if they're not that close to me or my wife my decision might be different.

That's pretty much all LSU fans'.
Nowadays, I'll be pissed for like 5 minutes then once the channel is changed, I'm good.
Hell I cared more about Iowa State last season than LSU.

Wife and I planned to get married in Vegas, everything paid for blah blah blah. Her mother begged us to get married locally in Florida so much so that she offered to pay and plan the entire thing if we didn't get married in Vegas. I still wanted Vegas, but I told my wife(she was indifferent either way) if we choose the FLorida thing, I don't want to have a single decision to make about the wedding. We planned for Vegas, I took care of everything. If we were changing it up, it was 100% on her and her Mom, and that's how it was, and it worked well. My wife is super low maintenance, so it was easy peasy.
That's the long explanation of me saying i have zero clue about RSVPs, who many were invited vs how many showed up to my wedding.
Posted on 5/2/18 at 2:19 pm to shel311
Yeah I didn't really care about planning. My wife really didn't either. My MIL and our wedding planner did it all. We got to try to food and check out bands. It was fun.
We did have a night with my family and hers to eat dinner, drink, and plan the tables so I had a good idea of who was going to be there. It was like 25-30 tables.
