He is basically correct on the point that the bride and groom probably not care or know who's in attendance at the time

At the time? Probably not. Lots of things going on.

After? Yeah.

We had very few not attend. Had a friend from Alaska even make it.

Memorial Day/Labor Day, ok.

NYE, get new friends.

You got it backwards. NYE party with friends and someone else is paying for all the booze and food.

Memorial Day and Labor Day is when I plan my beach trips to the OT Riviera, 30-A

Same with us. It was a very calculated weekend choice

But I will say this, it is dangerous planning a wedding during August in louisiana..... Zero refunds for weather....

I have known of it happening to people for hurricanes and they lost out on their entire wedding

yeah the Caterer gave us that little formula, and she was panicked because they didn't have enough food. Luckily I was smart and had a metric ton of alcohol delivered. Didn't want Jesus to have to show up, and turn some water into wine at my wedding.

It was like 98 and not a cloud in the sky on our party wedding day. We had a super quick ceremony and got everyone inside ASAP. Pictures were so gd hot.

We had England and China too, but that's all that we know overseas. Probably should've led with that.

Doesn't matter to me. I can't think of a single holiday that is important enough to me that a wedding would ruin it. New Year's Eve is my favorite holiday, and a wedding on NYE is usually a blast because they throw a huge party.

Then I don't have to go to some shitty overpriced club on amateur night, but I still get to dress up and get shitfaced.

Perks of working in the booze industry was copious amounts of free wine and liquor.

Yeh, like I mentioned on page 1 the NYE wedding I went to was awesome

It was with a very well to do Nola family, so it was a black tie wedding with top shelf everything

I felt like I was don draper back in the 50s

Woman ranting about getting married during the LSU Bama game. (Back when we had a chance)

quote:

They play every year, we will only get married once. It's the 21st century and everyone has smart phones to keep up with the game and dvr to watch the game at a later time. We will also be having our DJ announce the scores. Will there be a tv at the game? NO because this is a wedding and not a football party. We understand if you can't make the wedding, cool we get it, but choosing a 4 quarter football game that happens every year is just rather hard to take in. If Lsu wins or loses this game, it will not put them any higher up for a better bowl game, that's just the facts. Sorry if I offend anyone in this. If you won't be there, sorry you missed it and for the ones that will, get ready to party because it will be a blast!!! Rant over, Bridezilla is off of her soap box!

BTW I always love this when getting married during football season is brought up.

Just so you know August 25th is the perfect day of the year to get married. College football hasn't started yet. Kids are back in school so no vacation messed up.

Be careful getting married in May or August though, because school schedules can vary on where you live. We got married in the middle of May. At the time, it seemed perfect. Between semesters of college, not really summer time yet, and before we had kids, even the first several years after, it was a perfect time for a long weekend getaway to celebrate. Then your oldest starts K5 and you realize there's a good 1.5-2 weeks left of school every year on your anniversary, and you'd much rather take an anniversary trip but it means lots of hoops to jump through so they don't miss school.

Since the bride refused to have a TV at the reception on her big day, invitees began asking if it would be O.K. if they followed the game on their phone during the wedding.

I get if you don't want a TV, but I'm watching on my phone.

Even the Bacchus ball had the super bowl playing on all the screens before the parade came through in 2015.

My first kid was born on my anniversary. This year i'm inviting everyone to me and my wifes 4th anniversary party.

Precisely why my wife and I are waiting and just being selfish for a few more years before kids. Well that's the plan anyways.

I got married on NYE of 2000. The ceremony was at 6:00PM and we told all the guests the wedding reception stuff (dinner/father-of-the-bride dance/bouquet toss/etc.) would be done by 10PM. This let the older folks leave and then everyone else stayed until 1AM to ring in the new millennium with ample free booze.

Pros- If we want to go out for our anniversary there's always somewhere to go, I always remember my anniversary and how many years I've been married, guests were off work/out-of-school so they could travel. I'm a big advocate of NYE weddings...
