Not 60 bucks then but probably 60 more than 60 bucks now
During Prohibition, smuggling rye whiskey in a loaf of rye bread was not common, and more likely to occur in the upper East Coast (they prefer rye to bourbon there) but adjusted for inflation, price was probably well over 60 bucks today for a loaf of rye.

Anyone read that story recently where some researcher was doing a paper on yeast colonies and asked for examples from local folks? Some old lady brought in a culture from a family yeast colony that was given to her by her grandmother that had been handed down from the family. They traced the culture back to be hundreds of years old. I never knew yeast was a living thing in that sense.
shite. Here's a story of where they colonized the yeast found in the stomach of a 5,300 year old caveman mummy and made sourdough out of it. Not eating that.

Exactly... It is because of $hit like this. Some people who can't afford the bread will buy it anyways so they can make a tik tok or snapchat of them eating the bread just so people will know they bought it. It's to show status which is exactly a false status. People that have money will likely not buy it knowing that there's no difference between $10 & $60 bread which is why they have more money than the one's that can't afford it... Hope that helps clear some things up...

I'm no economic genius but wouldn't this better exemplify an economy where 90% are doing worse while 10% are buying $60 loaves of bread?
