Currently experiencing this same phenomenon myself. A couple Fridays ago I didn't make it to the store for beer after work, and when I woke up Saturday morning I felt great. Have been tapering off with no real effort since.

Then, she told me she is pregnant, so the desire to drink every night left. Knowing I was to be responsible for a small, human life meant the party was over. shite had gotten real.
If you've never had to care for a couple of screaming kiddos while hungover, then you don't know what hell is. Nap time couldn't come soon enough. That'll cure you real quick on drinking too much.

Kids did it for me..... Now i have the opposite urge to get just hammered once every couple months. Then like clock work, i’m reminded why i don’t live that life anymore lol.

5 is a lot but 3 is doable to not feel like crap. One when you get home, wine with dinner plus a nightcap and you’re there. That’s 3 drinks spread out over 4 hours.
I never felt like crap but I don’t like the direction the scale is heading. Drinking isnt the main driver but it’s definitely a factor. Gonna try and cut it back to one per night - didn’t have one last night and I had to take a melatonin to get to sleep.

I did.
I went from a daily drinker to full stop for several years.
Suffered some bad life events and started drinking but it didn’t last long.
Now just a few drinks on the weekends and occasions.
Meditation is the reason

I actually went through almost the same exact thing you’re describing a few weeks ago also

Yes. Was drinking, lets not say heavily, but weekend steadyish and probably one night a week 3 drinks.
Got covid, and it took that desire away.
Weird, but i like it, feel better, wake up easier, lost 6 pounds.

Yea, I used to drink a bottle of bourbon and/or a case of beer a week. Now that will last me a month or more. Too much shite to do to feel like crap the next day. Also, just as much as the next day sucks, sometimes its a toss up if my body can handle it that day, instant headaches and stomach aches sometimes with 1 or 2 drinks, just depends on the day I guess.

My friends can't understand this. All of a sudden one day I just...didn't want to drink. Then it happened more often. I'm not against drinking and I still like to have a bourbon from time to time, but there are more times when I say I'm going to sit and have a bourbon tonight and then when the time comes I'm like, nah I'm good. Drinking is no longer the focus of any event. 33 for the record.

You don’t ever feel bad if you never stop drinking

I drank two high lifes with my cousin last week after a hunt and felt like garbage all day the next day. IDK if it is blood sugar issues or just getting older but it isn't fun anymore.

Well didn’t you just tell people about it?

I’ve only had 4-5 drinks in 2021 and started eating a little better and I’m down ten pounds. I’m not a fat frick but that was eye opening

lol that would be refreshing actually

Loup,
I work offshore. We are now working 28 and 28 with a five day quarantine before coming out to the rig. After the first week out here of not drinking I feel amazing and I exercise the entire time I'm out here and of course no drinking. I get home and I start drinking and smoking and I feel like shite. I feel great literally at this moment typing this. I'm going to try to NOT drink at all when I get home. I'm 43 and I think it's time!

Yep. That’s me right now.
That said, I’ve been trying to eat better and get back into the gym, so while not random...I’ve basically lost the urge altogether.
Don’t miss it at all, BTW.
