when i was a 25 yr old pot head ya, i rang some ear drums with pretty high quality system, then over the next 10 years i grew up and didnt want to be deaf so i stopped and the oem factory sound system in my vehicles was all i ever needed

I don't even remember since it was the early 00's when I was in high school when I had a system. I had Rockford P2's I think. I also had MTX subs and Kicker at one point.
I think it's retarded now.

I had a walled off box in my 86 Honda Civic with 4 Crossfire 15's on two Crossfire 1000'D's.
Started to get nosebleeds. I sold the car to some hoodrat for $1000 more than I paid for it and sold the system separately for double that price.
Ended up with enough cash for a Nissan Xterra. Figured I traded up.

Then you obviously don’t know how fads work.

Two Memphis 10's with a Memphis amp under the back seat in my extended cab Z71. Was the tits from 04-08 then I got over it and took it out.

In the back back of my 87 rx7, I had a kenwood 12 run through a JBL amp in a box I made myself.
I blared a lot of Pantera and Hatebreed. I replaced the 808 bass with a double kick drum.

i used to have all that stuff. Orion amps, JL Audio subs.
Now that i'm older I just have a little under seat box and amp like this. Provides plenty of bass for me.

bought a used tacoma (i'm ot poor) and it came with an alpine single din head unit, a sub amp under the seat, but no sub. it took me awhile, but i discovered that the sub amp was running one shitty speaker in the door. heck of a system.
and the truck smelled like a homeless dog with a serious nicotine habit lived in it.

Pioneer head unit, Sony xplod speakers, and one of those triangular bazooka tubes.

Blaupunkt Seattle with an amp & two 6” x 9”s in the back & smaller speakers in the front doors.
‘76 Pontiac Grand Prix (similar pictured):
By the early ‘80s Japanese cars could have decent audio systems in them and my priorities changed.
I’ve never considered altering a factory setup in any vehicle I’ve had for at least the past 30 years.

Had a '99 reg cab Silverado with 3 10" JLw6's stuffed behind the seat. 1000w class D amp pushing them. It hit hard.

The big shift came when stock head units could basically do everything an aftermarket unit could.
They can't though. A HPF is essential when you have a sub IMO and no stock HU I've ever had has one.
As for OP, my old truck had this 8 under the back seat and it was insane.
It was in the JL stealthbox they made for the tundra.
With the avic d3 HU. I did the parking break bypass so I could change navigation and watch DVDs while the car was moving.
