Have you ever had a "system" in any of your vehicles?

What kind of stereo set up did you have? Dont know how popular they are now, but they were in the 90's and early 2000s.

I had kicker competition amp and 12s close to 20 years ago. Don't remember the wattage. Ran the heavy gage also. Drove around blaring Bone, warren g, master P, etc

About 75% of the posters on this site have an interlock “system.”

I had two Rockford Fosgate 12s running off a Punch 45 amp. Also had Sony separates in the front and back running off a Precision Power amp.

Had a Sony head unit and dash EQ-crossover combo. The head unit had a little joystick.

Including the custom install it was about 2500 bucks. I should’ve just gotten some 6x9s and a basic CD player and put more money into the car.

ETA: the car

06 Civic Si. Polk Audio’s in the front, Pioneers on the rear deck, Kenwood sub, and Boston Acoustics front tweeters. Pioneer touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay.

It’s too bad the damn thing is sitting in my garage with a blown engine

The stock system in my 08 TL Type S is near impossible to take out and modify without having to do a bunch of rewiring, so I’ve left it alone. It was tuned out of the factory by Elliot Scheiner and sounds pretty good as it is.

What led to the demise of the system? Not sure how it was popular for so many years and now nothing.

Stock radios systems got better. Plus stuff became more customized and less universal.

The big shift came when stock head units could basically do everything an aftermarket unit could.

Plus, maybe it was just kind of a fad.

It was always nice to see the new aftermarket decks and the technology that was coming out. I remember always taking the front face off so it wouldn't get stolen. Then they started making ones that flipped over

I don’t believe a fad would last the better part of 15 or so years

Probably because cars started coming equipped with good sounding stereos. My car came equipped with a sub-woofer.
