I don't travel that way often (if ever), but how will people take the I-10 exit then get to the left side of Acadian?

So there would be no more left turn lanes on hundred oaks or Broussard to enter the neighborhoods? You'd have to go down to government then turn left and circle back around?

Yet you just listed three left turns they aren’t eliminating. Sounds like they’re gonna leave some.

People making unprotected left turns from a travel lane on boulevards and throughways are THE DEBIL.

Turning lanes and signals in BR would be a huge help. It’s a citywide problem

Other than the Wallnut Hills, the Catholic Center, and the Villa del Rose apartments, there will be no left turns.

They also are going to raise the median 3’ so people don’t cross.

sounds like this should help traffic. What is your problem with this?

Exactly.

They are cleaning up that shite show of an intersection at Claycut and Acadian. Taking out C. Leon in the next year or so.

Are they going to build jughandles instead? I’ve been in town from NJ since Wednesday and all I’ve been thinking is “man, a jughandle would really help the traffic at some of these intersections”

The only thing that will keep people from making left turns is a huge concrete median. People will turn wherever they want no matter that the signs or yellow lines say.

The only place where left turns are an issue are at I-10 with people turning left to get into TJ Ribs or one of the gas stations and even there it's only a problem during truly busy times. Just expand that area to include a turning lane instead of fricking up the entire length.

This is almost as bad as the idea to shrink Government down to 2 lanes with bike lanes.

There are designated turn lanes for all the lights. So they’re closing those?

There are either a bunch of retards or a bunch of trolls in charge of making these decisions right now. The fact that they’re closing the Perkins on ramp and tearing down the merchant in the process is even more upsetting. None of these changes will effect a positive change in traffic around the city, and they're really just gonna cost a shite ton of money to make driving here slightly more annoying.

What in the absolute frick is going on in this thread? When did the OT turn against left turns?

Maybe you have a case for that in cities where you have the grid layout. Would be a nightmare in Baton Rouge.

Unless you need to go the other direction. If you are at Winn Dixie, you can't turn left on Burbank either so there's effectively no way to get to Highland unless you drive three miles around via Boyd.

The traffic people in this town are stupid. I travel alot and agree that the U-turn thing works in other areas because they actually have medians and the ability to make the U-turn every block or so. They often also have sync'd lights so that there's gaps in traffic that allow for the u-turns. Here, if people turning left are a problem, then the decision is to just not let them go there anymore. Just plain stupid.

Clearly, you've never seen 3 o'clock when that arts school is finished for the day. They have a turning lane.

It doesn't help.
