I have a rental property on Acadian and the tenant received a letter that he gave to me from DOTD. They will indeed be raising the medians, scraping the road surface and putting a no skid type over layment, as well as working on the intersection at Claycut and Acadian. That is all that was mentioned in the letter. I'll go back to check but I saw nothing about left turns.

That makes sense. The city parish rehabilitated North Acadian like the are doing to Goodwood at this time. They will mill the road, patch the problem areas and laydown asphalt. I should know, I am working or worked on these projects.

Now as far as 'no left turn', they may close the left turn for some time, but that is due to roadwork. They will do it in a way to least inconvenience the public.

Go back and check my edit in my earlier post for clarity on the left turn situation.

Ah okay. Still though, that's a great on ramp right there. Closing it is just gonna force people down College and Acadian which are both already choke points, particularly College.

They are going to expand/lengthen the on-ramp at Acadian.

I-10 should flow very well once the project is done in 147 years.

If I read that right, they are eliminating only the breaks where you can make legal unprotected left turns or u-turns without lights (or a turning lane) between Bawell and Government and raising the divider overall so people stop making illegal left turns. Legal protected left turns or unprotected turns with turning lanes are being left in place.

There's a turning lane at the arts school. At the diocese, there's a light. At Hundred Oaks, Broussard, and Claycut, there are both lights and turning lanes.

Well that’s not true. There’s 2 little cut-thru areas on Burbank where you can U-turn

Fair enough. But, the timing of things. Consider this: Acadian has a problem 2-3 hours/day only on school days. Thus, the solution may be that nobody can turn left 24-hours/day 365 and the OP claims we may then have to go to Government to make a U-turn.

I travel Acadian at 5:20am each morning and it at the I-10 on-ramp light for so long each morning that I usually end up running it. I am not exaggerating when I say that many mornings, not a single car comes through the intersection while I am waiting what seems like an eternity for the light to turn green.

In the past, the oncoming traffic had a green (no arrow) light but for traffic-shaping purposes, they now default to green arrow and those going toward Government get a red light and must wait 3-4 minutes (the sensors don't seem to work). Again, this makes perfect sense around 7:00am when there is a ton of parents dropping kids at the Arts Academy, SJA, and CHS. But, the other 21 hours/day, it makes no sense at all.

Thus, my contention that this poor government pics winners/losers rather than approaching the problem with all in mind.

ETA: Don't read me wrong: I am all for traffic-shaping and other ideas for improving things. But, they need to think it through. It's not a zero-sum game where it must be worse for one group if you improve it for another.

Dedicated U-turn lanes? You're lucky if you get a turn lane. It's Baton Rouge tradition to slam on your brakes at full speed to make a left turn and make everyone behind you wait

You guys wouldn't do well in Pittsburgh. PennDOT not only has no fricking clue what a left turn lane is....but they've also almost eliminated the on-ramp from their design language. The STOP signs at the end of the truncated on-ramps on the parkway makes Baton Rouge's infrastructure seem so well thought out.

Everyone has to stop completely and go from zero 65 in about 200 feet. On the bright side it strongly discourages truckers from using that highway.

I noticed that they also shoe-horned a center turn lane on Burbank between Jennifer Jean and Nicholson....and added sidewalks on Boyd.

20 years late, but it did happen.
