Have we discussed the 83 new traffic lights on 190 in Covington yet?

Just the few that are already on pushed traffic back nearly another 10 minutes for my commute, I switched to I-12 to hwy 21 into Covington. It is a little quicker, but not much.

St. Tammany doesn't have enough cross streets that people can use as alternate routes. The area is exploding with population, but the roads can't handle this influx. 190 will be a disaster and it's already terrible.

I had heard they were going to REDUCE the number of lights on 190.

Nope complete freaking opposite. It’s gonna be even more of a CF

you mean La can’t seem to plan or improve its infrastructure? Shocking I tell ya.

And they wonder why NIMBYs are so numerous here.

I was holding my breath when they first announced the plan. I, too, thought they were going to reduce the number of lights. Obviously, that’s incorrect. Also, imagine when they finally do not allow you to make a left at 190 and force you to take a right and U-turn. It’s going to be a real cluster when there is already traffic and everyone tries to cross three lanes of traffic when it’s already bumper to bumper. Heading north, the problem is the Bogue falaya bridge. Heading south is the backed up traffic trying to head
I-12 West. Neither of those issues is being addressed.

Can’t we give it a chance first?

The other day, it took me about 15 minutes to get from the 4 way stop at Hwys 190/22 to the Claiborne Hill IGA to get groceries. F that. I think I’m just going to the IGA in Madisonville from now on. I can always go to Stein’s grocery, the Western Auto, or the ZIP Food Mart by the bridge for anything the IGA doesn’t have.

Seconded.

This concept has worked in other places, let see how it does here. The main gain is reducing light cycles that stop traffic on the other side, eg, the hordes exiting Home Depot and Walmart and heading south. Those lights take an eternity.

I know the high headache is northbound rush hour, and yes the bridge hasn’t been addressed. So we’ll see.

Vets in Metairie was the model for this design.

Works pretty well there.

Why do people want ammonia? Can you get a high off that?

If I ran for parish president and the only thing I said I would do is replace that bridge, would you vote for me?

The aging population in the area won't be able to navigate the confusion (have you seen them at a round-a-bout?) this is going to cause traffic mayhem.

Please keep encouraging people to move on the west side of the parish. We need to keep growing little West Bank / Chalmette.

Love that my property value south of I12 continues to rise because of traffic. No clue why people are buying north of 12 or by 1077 when you have to use 12 to get there
