re: Who’s got some dealership service stories?
Posted by wolftiger on 1/17/24 at 5:18 pm
Honda of Covington
Driving home van starts driving really rough. Dashboard lights up etc. Bring it in to dealership. They come back with "your engine is done, full rebuild needed" 7K proposed. This was a 2014 Odyssey, black book value was 8K at the time.
A friend recommended an honest mechanic and I had them take a look as a second opinion. They replaced spark plugs and coils and the thing was running as good as ever...and has ever since.
I called the dealership back and told them what the mechanic found. The service manager hemmed and hawed about an inexperienced tech, etc.
I'll never go back to honda of covington for anything.

Forage on Robson St was really good.
But if you walk down Robson you'll eventually find something good. Lot's of great Asian cuisine.

At lease they are demonstrating a fitting way to hold a knife if you are trans...You're definitely going to cut off an appendage that way.

If you can find it, you could replace brown sugar with Palm sugar.

There is a short mention here:
NOLA.com story
A few short lines saying the shooting was on 33rd and Fillmore. No mention of the fair, which should be part of the story.

re: 2022 Fantasy Football Keeper Questions Thread
Posted by wolftiger on 8/11/22 at 3:01 pm
1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE Standard scoring. I can keep three for the round indicated:
Mixon - 15th - Franchise keeper
Hurts - 12th
Elijah Mitchell - 14th
J.K. Dobbins - 6th
Javonte Williams - 5th
To me, Mixon and Hurts are no brainers.
My real questions are:
1. Will Mitchell be the guys this year in SF?
2. Will Dobbins start early and/or have a slow recovery year?
3. Will Williams have enough value with Gordon still there?

Terrible location. Nothing has survived in that spot for some reason
Baco Bar was great. Owner/chef dying of cancer was the only reason it didn't survive.
re: St. Tammany DA tax voted down. Again.
Posted by wolftiger on 5/1/22 at 11:38 am
This goes back to the original funding tax to build the courthouse in covington years ago. A tax was voted on to build the courthouse. But it was large enough to build and operate the building as well. The tax was "temporary" though and once it ran its course, the parish council tried to renew it saying the original tax was meant for operations of the courthouse all along. They tried three times to renew, getting shot down each time. So the parish cute services drastically.
The next step to try and strong-arm parish voters to get more tax money was to cut DA budget and force Montgomery to raise the funding for his office himself by putting a tax up for vote. This was shot down yesterday.
If you recall the parish did the same thing years ago to the Coroner. He went and put a tax up for vote and got it. It was WAY more than was needed. A few short years later he was in jail with a huge coffer full of tax payer money he had misappropriated, to say it nicely.

re: Any old school drafting / designers in here?

Initially learned on the board, but never did any production work that way. I learned ACAD 12 in late 90's. Worked on AutoCAD and Microstation over the years always in the piping sector.
Currently do admin work on AVEVA software.

Not in Chinatown, but the best dim sum is at yank sing. A block off of market Street and first.
re: Swing frame made out of 6x6 posts
Posted by wolftiger on 12/28/21 at 1:54 pm
Just finished this in my yard three weeks ago.
Buried the 6x6 posts deep with wide holes and tapered wider at the bottom.
Used all SS swing hardware. Used the T-bracket for 6x6 posts you can buy at lowes through bolted. Notched out the beam to fit over the posts. Also put 2, 10" lag screws down through the top beam through each posts.
Love it.

re: Clock management question

My issue was with going for 2. Yeah, if you get it Atlanta needs a TD to win. But if you take the gimme, a FG only ties it. At least you have a buffer and we can take momentum into OT. And, yeah, you gotta trust your defense, but why hamstring them with that added pressure?

Here is what I have outside. Bluetooth for music. Connected to two outdoor speakers. TV going to the line-in with an additional volume control inline. Works great.

J. Williams, E. Mitchell, or T. Williams at flex
Standard scoring.
Broncos have the best d match-up. Plus only 1 other rb competing for touches.
So I'm leaning williams.

re: VEXUS fiber?
Posted by wolftiger on 8/27/21 at 12:18 pm
I am very interested, but they are skipping my street. :wah:
Paging Fatman! Let's get Vexus to run more fiber!
eta:
I was riding my bike and saw them running the fiber underground on w. 19th ave. They are going straight to 21st from there and over to River Forest, but skipping Inspiration and Menetre. So no Fiber for me.
