Sounds more like a process issue at their motor plant. The article makes it sound like Toyota already knows the issue and is working on how to implement the fix and have already done so on the '24 models that have been produced. Honestly compared to the big 3 that's a pretty quick fix and diagnosis, similar to what they had on the Tacoma shift issues where the first couple years had bad shift points and they implemented a recall to flash the new shift points on all the 3.5L Autos.

Anyone who says Toyota sucks and use this as an example please let me know what Ford is doing for the 5.0 or did for the ecoboosts. What about GM with the 3.6L or 8 speed transmissions. Ram transmission failures... All of those issues are 5+ years into being known issues and the solutions are still flush the fluids, flash the ecu, and better trade in before 90k because they are ticking time bombs after they go over 90k miles.

I havent been following it but last i heard it was mainly the 22s and some 23s that they thought it was a bad batch of engine bearings. Thats what they were claiming at the beginning but seems its out of hand now and they are panicking.

08 here, and I have huge issues with where they put the fricking starter outside of that, love it. My next oil change should be right after the 250k mark was originally my dad's ride/our company vehicle. I leveraged my worker's comp 10% ownership exclusion into a solid deal when he retired and we shutdown his company.

Hold onto that thing till you can’t squeeze another mile out of it. You can thank the gov for forcing manufactures to contort to their BS regulations.

I know a lot of real men who have only ever had 6 cylinder trucks that beat the hell out of them and put 300k plus hard miles on them before they are handed down or turned into strictly farm trucks. Those 6 cylinders would rip the aluminum frame out from under your truck if you tried a tug of war. Unless of course this is some rah rah troll job about guys driving trucks that have known issues while they laugh at a manufacturer actually fixing their issues. If that's the case then I absolutely attacked that shiny hook.

Gotta 2013 V8 with 300k miles that I'll trade in for an entirely new truck if that's the case since the newer shite ain't worth a frick to them.

Dealers Are Refusing Toyota Tundra Trade-Ins Over Twin-Turbo V6 Recall

Because they are under recall and haven't been fixed yet

Of course they're not taking them, they're not allowed to.

I handed down an 08 Tundra with the 5.7 to my teen son in 2019. It finally gave up the ghost sometime in 2022 a little shy of 300K. And it only died because he let it overheat and thought he could make it “a few more miles”. Wrong. Had he pulled over immediately and shut it down, probably could have just had to replace the thermostat and water pump and it would still be going today. But that’s what you get with teenagers.

BTW, if you like the Tundra’s 5.7 V8, the Ram’s 5.7 V8 is virtually the same design except it has a cast iron block instead of aluminum, which means it’s less prone to warp or crack at high temps.

Yeah those Cummins and Duramax 6cyl engines are sure known to be trash.

I got a 23 tundra. No problems yet.
Not really worried. Bought the 100k warranty cause I wasn’t sure about buying the first year of a new complex engine. Only time will tell.

I was looking for a new tundra. Platinum TRD off road. 78k plus exploding motor lol. Got a 3.0 duramax at4 for nearly 20k less. Add in 25-30 mpg it’s a no brainer. Toyota got more issues than engines. Their pricing is insane.

I would like to point out 3 or 4 years ago when the switch from N/A V8 to turbo 6 was announced and happening, all the fan boys said things like:

"Don't worry, it's a Toyota, they do things right"

"Toyota wouldn't rollout anything that wasn't tested and vetted"

I would love to know (we never will) was it worth it Toyota? ALL of the money in R&D, retooling, now recalling and correcting a MAJOR problem. Your reputation going down the shitter. DOES MOVING TO A TURBO V6 STILL MAKE SENSE?

Also, when you only provide 1 engine you lie in the bed you make. Smart move!!! Ram is on deck

I mean they are under immense pressure from the US government to improve efficiency. They had to do something.
