Cox did exactly this to me but I am not upset about my upgraded internet speed.

When renewal comes I’ll pay whatever I have to pay in order to never give another dollar to AT&T

4. Cox offers new price for "current services" and they give very few options. 5. Current services are upgrades from the last 2-3 months that I did not agree to or know about.

Just tell them you want prices for your previous services then.

I'm guessing Cox and possibly other internet providers sneak in these upgraded services without knowing, then will try to use the whole "get the same speed you had for this price" conversation when customers call about their promos ending. T

Had something similar happen w/Time Warner-Spectrum years ago when the movie channel Epix (recently renamed MGM+) first debuted. It just popped up in my feed and after 4 or so months I noticed my bill went up. When I looked to see what caused that it was b/c they auto subbed me to Epix.

If they hadn't had the sports package I wanted at the time I would have canceled then and there but I was able to argue to have the money refunded for the one month they charged me.

t should I just switched from Cox to At&t, got 1 GIG for like 90 bucks. With cox I was at 500 mbps for 120 per month

It definitely upsets me because the other end of my street has ATT and I do not.

ETA to what fallguy said, we have ATT cell service and directv so switching to Cox when we moved sucked.

Is AT&T fiber worth the hassle of switching?

I switched from Cox about 5-6 months ago. They basically made it worthwhile because we got a discount on our cell phone bill for bundling them together.

As I said in previous posts, I tried that, no luck. Threatened to switch to AT&T and they said some script that had no substance to it.

My experience with COX is they make it very convenient to add services. You can add services using their website or the iPhone app.

But if you want to eliminate any service, such as dropping a SportsPak or NetFlix or HBO, you have to call and go through their horrible phone options menu only to be put on hold to wait for a representative who usually doesn't know how to remove a service. They have to get a supervisor on the line to do it. And still there's a 50-50 chance the supervisor will get the change wrong.

More than once I've been told by a phone representative that what I want to do can't be done, or it will cost me more to drop a service than keep what I already have. So I hang up, wait a few minutes and call back and get a different representative who does what I want done and my bill goes down just like I wanted.

It hasn't happened to me but Xfinity raises speeds on their plans every year, typically. Sometimes they will also change the names on the plans with the change in speeds.

the 300/300 plan for $55 a month is solid. If that is cheaper than what you are paying, yes, go for it.

I originally had 30 Mbps years ago and I found out I had 250 Mbps the other day when I logged into my account. My price never went up. I actually downgraded to 100 Mpbs and it lowered my bill by $20.

This is indeed how it works most of the time. Its luck of the draw on the rep.

I called one day because my promo had ended and i finally made my mind up that i was going to cancel that day. Call them up get to retention dept, what`s the issue? Tell the guy look I`m done just cut this shhh off. Guy says will you give me no more than 5 minutes and if you don`t like the deal, I will cancel it for you. Figured he would comeback with the 20% off bs. He comes back like $15 a month off what i was paying in the original promo and had the deal for 2 years.

I stayed. I have since gone through this with close to those results but never as good.

I have dealt with ATT internet over the years and I will never again. F ATT customer service.

Same here. We were having issues with AT&T Uverse a few years ago and they said it would be 10 days before a tech could come out. Ridiculous. We had one problem after another with AT&T the entire time we had them. I have since gone back to Cox for internet and get my TV through Sling.

As bad as Cox can be with their pricing and, at times, customer service, they really aren’t that bad to deal with.

I don't know why you are getting downvotes unless it is jealousy. We have it at the camp and they are hands-down the best internet provider I have ever had. Their customer and tech support is excellent.

Yes sir I think so it lowered our bill and we also kicked cox cable to the curb. We were spending $300 and know we are spending about $145 for both YouTube tv and att fiber.

FIL’s DirecTV went up from $80 to $120. He asked my why did I think that happened. I remembered he had called them a year ago and said he would drop them unless he could have a lower price. They gave him $80 and he was happy.
Promo price is over.
I guess it’s time for him to call again. I told him about Firestick, Roku, digital TV combo, etc., and he won’t try it.

Cox has done this at least twice in the past few years. My bill never changed when they did it.

I have Tachus fiber internet and a few months ago they emailed me and said they were bumping up their middle plan (which was 500Mbps) to 600 Mbps with no change in fees.

It’s a month to month service and they’ve been true to their word so far.

When they first entered my neighborhood they had some issues so they gave all their customers a free month to say sorry. I don’t see myself switching to anyone else.
