has Best Buy made a comeback?

i thought Best Buy was completely dead in the water 10-15 years ago, especially once virtually all media went to streaming and people were buying most stuff off Amazon. stores were always a mess, workers (if you could find one) never knew shite about shite.
but in the last couple years, i've made a few marginally expensive purchases there (couple TVs, ps5, car stereo, some Apple products) and the in-store experience was notably better. there were workers available to assist, they generally knew what they were talking about or could get you the right person, and you could check out in whatever department you were in. just a more efficient and streamlined process.
curious if some of you guys have had similar experiences with them recently or if i just happen to live by one that is decent.

I have a Microcenter near me so I have not gone in a Best Buy in many years

Best Buy is pretty decent for a big chain. Wish Radio Shack was still around for smaller stuff though.

They built some pretty good distribution agreements with LG, Samsung, etc. for appliances. I found they’re generally cheaper than Lowe’s or Home Depot with more availability and better delivery options.

zero percent financing is pretty sweet too, i think that helps.

We spend a ton of money at Best Buy… my hubby gets “points” at work that can be changed into BB gift cards.
Every time we’ve ordered something, tvs, Apple Watches, smart home stuff (tons), it’s always perfect, always on time and we have zero complaints.

yes the company had a good year. seems liek a number of these big box retailers that were assumed dead in the water 10ish years ago are starting to make some comebacks

More boomers in retirement now and they can’t figure out technology, have the free time to go to the store and get help

I ordered an electric scooter from Best Buy last summer. They quoted me saying it would arrive in one week. Well one week later it hadn’t even shipped. I asked for a refund. They gave me a run around. Eventually I got it 2.5 weeks late but their refusal to refund or at least accurately project when it would ship means I won’t buy from them again

i think boomers were probably the only consistent business that Best Buy had through the last decade and a half. i dont think there's a new, ahem, boom in 70-80 somethings going to best buy. BB is actively bringing in business from the younger (gen-x, millennial) crowds now that had gone almost entirely online for a long time.

My SIL recently bought a LG OLED TV from Best Buy, or at least she thought she did. She went into the store to get it but they didn't have any in stock, so they directed her to order online. Now that bestbuy.com is essentially a marketplace like Amazon, it was not obvious she was actually buying from a 3rd party.. with a different shipping & returns policy than Best Buy.. it arrived damaged and 3 weeks later, still no resolution and Best Buy washed their hands of the situation.

Used them a few months ago. Ordered a 4tb hd from Amazon that never shipped. Best buy had the same hard-drive at my house in 2 days for cheaper

After dealing with Amazon drivers stealing small electronics out of the box and delivering me an empty box - I've gone to Best Buy for my last few purchases (air pods, hard drive, SD cards, etc.) with no issues

Best Buy near me is well run, employees are knowledgeable, and the store is well organized. They will also price match Amazon and other major online retailers and all you need to do is show them your phone with the competitor's website pulled up.
If Best Buy has what I'm looking for in stock, I'll always choose that over ordering online. I'd rather walk out the door with item in hand. No having to wait, worrying about items getting damaged during shipping, or porch pirates. And its a lot easier if I do have to return an item to be able to just walk into Best Buy and do it all in store within a few minutes instead of having to get a return shipping label, drop off at UPS store, then wait a week for Amazon to receive it and issue a refund or send a replacement.
If Best Buy has what I'm looking for in stock, I'll always choose that over ordering online. I'd rather walk out the door with item in hand. I did notice a few weeks ago when I went to our local BB that the workers were more attentive.....like a guy actually approached me and asked if I need help finding anything. Havent had that happen in years at BB. 0 percent interest for 12 months is good too.

One nice feature that Best Buy has is they will recycle old electronics for free. Beats throwing it in the trash.

I also would have expected they were going under several years ago, but they really turned it around.
They optimized their store layout, generally have helpful staff waiting to guide you to the product, and their prices are competitive.
I’ve come to really distrust the Amazon co-mingled inventory, so now if it’s something moderately expensive I buy it either directly from the manufacturer or go to a store like Best Buy.
I can get in and out extremely quickly and efficiently. It’s a good in-store experience now.
And for whatever reason, their large appliance distribution seems to be better than Home Depot or Lowe’s. Refrigerators, deep freezers, washer, and dryer all came from Best Buy for cheaper and faster than anybody else.
It’s quite the comeback story - they could easily have gone the way of Circuit City.
