I stopped in for a window unit on sale at a great price and was welcomed when entering and assisted immediately. They even carted out for me to my vehicle.

Their open box items are the best in the business for electronics. You get money off for the same thing, and you can return with no restocking fee.

I'd wonder if this was related to the Pokemon boom.

I had not been to a Best Buy in several years due to poor experiences.
But I recently needed some item quickly and gave them another try.
Poor service - check out was ridiculously slow. Numerous people standing around with only one inept person doing the sales transactions.
Back to no-go status for a few more years.

Maybe it is store and time dependent. I went in on a weekday after work and it was empty so I got help quickly.

Best Buy is pretty decent for a big chain. Wish Radio Shack was still around for smaller stuff though.

Depends on which Radio Shack. I definitely miss the one from the 70’s that sold everything from batteries to stereos, but specialized in kits and parts. You could literally build a working radio from scratch. They had every part needed. Thats what I loved. The place with all the weird and wonderful parts. The kits for learning to build gear. In the 90’s it turned into a glorified cell phone store.

try to avoid them. last time I was actually looking to buy, I walked around and around hoping a salesperson would or could help. took forever. and then was not remotely knowledgeable about the product.

previously, M-I-L bought TV online. delay after delay. no delivery.
customer service: "yes we have one locally. No you cannot have it". stayed away ever since.
