Pulled over leaving a bar by a State Trooper. I had no business driving, probably had more than several drinks. Thought for sure I was going to jail for DUI. He had me walk to his vehicle and when I got close he was smiling.
Him: 'You weren't born in 1958 I'm guessing.'
Me: 'No sir'.
Him: 'Did your dad sign for this vehicle?'
Me: 'Yes sir.'
Him: 'Let him know he's got a warrant in St. Landry parish. You have any drinks tonight?'
Me: (lying) 'Yes sir, two beers a couple of hours ago.'
Him: 'OK. Be careful and have a good night.'
I still can't believe he let me go, and that was the last time I attempted to drink and drive.

Tickets inside the city - NO
Tickets on the highway - let off with a warning most of the time.

Many times. The “Veteran” indicator on my license lets the popo know I sit at the cool kids table.
I was stopped for about 18 over on 45 between Houston and Dallas and the trooper was a Marine. He ran everything, got back to my window and asked what branch I was in. I said Air Force, he told me he was a Marine I told him I would use smaller words with him knowing that. He said, well up to now this was a warning. It still was but he had me for a minute thinking he was going to write the ticket.

Just a couple weeks ago. I rolled through a stop sign and as luck would have it, there was a police cruiser behind me. I had my info in hand when he approached my car. Told him I knew I screwed up and had no excuse for it. He said he appreciated the honesty and told me to be more careful and he let it go at that.

My CC card got me out of an inspection sticker ticket at a revenue roadblock. All the others I got were correct. Write it or don't. Idc, just don't take a lot time doing it.

i dropped my daughter off in middle school one day on my way to work and i had to pass through another school zone about 1/2 mile further down the road.
i was actually STOPPED by the crossing guard as she was letting kids cross the busy highway and as soon as she gave me the alls-clear i went into auto-pilot and ran through my gears only to realize i was going about 45 when i passed a black motorcycle cop sitting on the side of the road w/ his radar gun and was still in the school zone
i saw him turning around and heading for his bike so i just went ahead & pulled over and waited.
he asked me 'what the hell did i think i was doing'
and i said 'i have no explanation for you, go ahead & write me up. i just zoned out.'
he was mad as hell but after running my license he brought it back and said 'dont ever do that again' and let me go

I’ve only gotten speeding tickets. Never got out of one. Cops dang near writing as they walked to my car. I deserved every one of them.

Yep, for a Reckless no less, about 25 years ago.
Leaving the bar in the city around midnight after watching the Tigers kick the shite out of someone, I lit up the tires on Blue Thunder (1989 Foxbody Mustang, highly modified). A cloud of smoke in front of the bar. Then through the haze I see blue lights behind me. I pull over and it was a good thing I wasn't wasted. City cop looked everything over, came back and told me to take it easy on the way home. I guess he had bigger fish to fry.

I've gotten out of one I didn't deserve.
Dropped my kids off at school, got on I-310 at the River Road in Destrehan. For those not familiar with that area, once you come off the north side of the Hale Boggs, there's a short stretch at ground level before you come up onto the elevated section of 310, between the river and Airline. As I'm coming up the elevated section, in my maroon truck, a guy passes me in the left lane in a maroon SUV (a good bit faster than me). As we both get to the level section of roadway, there's a State Trooper on the shoulder, facing north. We pass him, I see him hit the lights and he pulls up on me. I pull over, get the speech, and he says he clocked me at X over the speed limit. I tell him, "No sir, you got the wrong guy...you clocked the maroon SUV in the left lane...and because you were facing the same direction as the traffic flow, you took your eyes off of him and mistakenly pulled me over." I never thought it would work, but I think he realized it was likely true...

I tried being honest with a cop once. 88 in a 65.
“Why you speeding”
“End of a 12 hour drive here, just trying to get home and get to bed, nobody on the road”
Cop LOL’d, said “what an a-hole” and came back with my ticket.

Yes, reduced to non moving violations.
I've never been more excited to go see a judge than when I received a reckless operation with the police report reading "speed of less than 5mph". The judges face was priceless.
If you are respectful to a cop the chances of them not being an a-hole are high but never 0.

Yes, My wife and I were returning from depositing my daughter at college in Pennsylvania. If any of y'all have ever made a driving trip up North you know that from Maryland to PA, traffic slows to 50-55 mph. It's very frustrating.
So, when we crossed in Virginia on the return trip, traffic loosened up and I ended up cruising along at 89.99999 mph. I look over to my left, and a Virginia's finest is right beside me. Dude didn't even put on his lights, just pointed for me to get on the side of the road.
He got to my window, asked for my license and registration and where we were coming from, and handed it back, telling me the speed limit is 65 and to slow it down.
Wife and I just sat there for a moment absolutely astonished.

Should've got a ticket doing 30 over. I looked the cop dead in the eye and said, "I know I was going a little fast but, 30?! I wasn't doing 30." Just straight up out the gate haggling over the actual number.
I still have no fricking idea how that was a good enough argument, I think I 404'd his brain with my response somehow

When I was at LSU someone hit my parked Jeep at some apartments off Brightside and didn't stop. It was loud enough we heard it from inside so we go out just to see their tail lights speeding off. I call the cops and make a report. My front axle was bent and I had to have it towed to get fixed.
A few nights later I'm studying at like 1:00 AM and I get hungry so my buddy lets me drive his vehicle to Taco Bell. His vehicle happened to be a Honda CBR900...
I get clocked at 80 in a 45 right in front of the Wildlife and Fisheries complex on Perkins and get pulled over. No motorcycle license, no clue about insurance, etc.
Cop walks up and it's the guy that took the report about the hit and run. I tell him my jeep is in the shop and I borrowed the bike to get some food and that I didn't realize how fast the bike was (I did).
He said, sorry about your jeep. Slow it down, and he let me go.

I've deserved every ticket I've received, but I've always gotten out of them without paying any or much.
I've not received many tickets that I deserved, simply by being nice and respectful.
Once when I was about 17, I was alone and pulled over around 1am on a weeknight in NOLA for slightly speeding. The cop was aggressive in manner and peppered me with questions about where I lived and what I was doing out late.
Have you been drinking? No, Sir.
Where do you live? Just around the corner from here.
Where do you go to high school? Jesuit [A risk. He looked like a Holy Cross guy.]
Why are you out so late? What have you been doing? I was volunteering at a charity auction and stayed late to help clean up.
All true responses. Any other night that summer, I would have been out drinking with my friends so, yeah, I was lucky. He couldn't think of a reason to mess with me further, so he let me go.
