I got a big promotion right before the virus and reached a salary I honestly thought I’d have to work 20 years to reach just based on what my college major was. I have a job that thoroughly makes me happy to do.

I’m legit curious. What are we talking here?

He’s doing really awesome. He had a phenomenal end of 2019/start of 2020 career wise.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not an OT baller. But my degree is just in English. Most women my age are some old dude’s admin assistant and maybe max out at 40k. I have a job that challenges me and helps others. And my (female!) boss has compensated me generously for it.

When I made this jump with her (she started the company with only me as her employee), I had no idea what I was in for. It has been a great ride.

Just last week she gave me a very generous bonus for no reason other than “thank you”.

I redid my outdoor patio and can’t stay away from it. So relaxing.

I’ve been doing the same. Actually the 3rd one, right outside the master bedroom. This one had a slab I had to bust up and redo. Here’s a good action pic that Jones might like. When it’s all done, I’ll post pics of the new patio with before and after shots,

Whaaat! That’s awesome.

Here’s what we have going on currently. Jones dug this pond with a shovel in July the first year we were dating

Go figure we do all this and we will be buying a house in the New Orleans area in the next year or so. But oh well.

Awesome. I’m happy for you.

I should probably say I’ve also received a raise, making that a 35% increase in salary since the start of Jan 19. Also due for another “merit increase” of 3-6% in October.

So things aren’t so bad financially but it didn’t really fit with the theme of the thread

Daughter born. Was able to get a decent sale price for my NYC apartment about three weeks before the virus hit.

Did y’all put gold fish in there? I like it. Might steal that idea, and some of the coy fish from Trey Yuen over here to do something like that.

I can say I’ve had a year that could be considered bad, but every situation had a silver lining.

Got T boned at 40 mph in January, didn’t get hurt (other than some delayed whiplash).

An out of nowhere hailstorm in May damaged the weather head on the roof, fricking up the wires and almost burned down the house... got a new weather head and a new roof out of it.

Daughter got Covid last month, but hardly was sick from it.

On the plus side, came into decent money a few times this year, lucky to have a job pay me when quarantined, and upgrading a few things around the house.

Been lucky.

You call that a pond?

Looks more like a mosquito bang bus to me.

Yes. We’ve been through two sets of them because we accidentally left the hose running in the pond overnight one time Also has a problem with raccoons grabbing them and eating a bite out of their stomachs and then leaving the rest on the ground.

But this set has been here 2-3 years and are doing great.

You should!! They’re such easy upkeep. I’m sitting out here right now. This is the bog he recently built. It’s a natural filtration system for the water and it has aquaponic plants.

Phew, you ain’t wrong. It’s a lot to stay on top of the bugs out here.
There’s also a frog mating season that is ridiculously loud. And a toad currently occupying space but he has been pretty quiet lately.

I also one time found a floating dead mole
