My area in North Houston has avoided all the crazy flooding, and we are pretty high up. My wife is 37 weeks pregnant, though, so we might be in deep shite if that kid decides to join the hurricane party and we have to get on the roads to the hospital.

If they have a spring shower, they close that damn place for "maintenance" Apparently the sludge clogs their drains and creates a breeding ground for mosquitos so they drain it all, clean it, and 3 months later, reopen once again.

No

No way that is the case, just near by Braeswood and Meyerland are way worse.

I would get the frick out of there ASAP. You're not proving a damn thing by staying and risking your wife's and baby's health by potentially forcing a roadside delivery with little to no emergency crew help.

At what point does a storm start to lose strength due to landfall?

A- Outer bands reach landfall

or

B- Center reaches landfall

B. Usually. But as of last night some models still had it strengthening over land.

I almost put that in my post.

If there are any OB/GYN's in the Kingwood/Atascosita area reading this that can deliver a baby in a bathtub and wants a free look at my wife, hook a brother up.

My local HEB was all out of Cinnamon Toast Crunch last night.

Round the clock coverage from J Rey, Chita, Dominique and the gang is always the silver lining in any weather related event

The center making landfall is when it really loses steam. A hurricane is just a big heat engine with the center being the intake. Lose the fuel and get the friction of land interaction and the storm weakens.

So they Texans are in and have been in NOLA all week and they play a preseason game on Saturday...I would think the Texans high brass would want thier players to make sure their families are out of harms way as well as be able to get back to Houston Saturday night/Sunday Morning...
