TVCN Is usually what the NHC follows for their track. It is a consensus of HMON, UKMET, NAVGEM, GFS, WWRF, and Euro, all with different interpolations and corrections, so it's not simply an average of all.

so how bad is it gonna get in houston? I live in West U and we have the worst drainage system ever, the streets flood during basic storms.

spacecityweather.com has a good no non sense assessment of what to expect in Houston. Basically it comes down to if the storm turns east or west after landfall.

Recon just found 981mb pressure, but the winds haven't responded to the decreasing pressure. Not sure how much longer that trend can continue.

im no where as near knowledgeable as the others in here but I mean just take a look at these two pics and you can deduce for yourself.

that is 4-5 days of this storm just sitting in your general area. Obviously there will be pockets of downpours but 4-5 days of a system like this cant be good for any region.

Thanks ill check it out, its insane to me the property taxes we all pay in west u and we have the worst drains in probably all of houston. Im pretty fortunate my house is elevated but the streets get to ridiculous levels in just your basic 1 hour long storm.

I wouldn't park your car on the street. Keep an eye on the news. By noon tomorrow KHOU, KPRC, etc. will every spare reporter in a slicker and standing next to every bayou/road intersection reporting live.

Yea... no. Regardless of the turn, Houston will get a ton of rain

The winds will respond. Lower pressure means more heat being sucked up. It'll be converted to wind eventually. We'll have a hurricane by noon.

Its the city of houston that put plates over the drains leaving the city to govern how much water they take from WU

I'd suggest watching the daily videos on Tropical Tidbits for a more in-depth discussion.

Thanks. That video was very informative.

Looking forward to see what he says today.

We'll be all right big fella.

Grab some beer, some salty snacks, and watch KPRC, KHOU, KTRK loose their minds at the flooded dog park at Buffalo Bayou.

lol. nailed it.

Don't forget the morons dumb enough to try to drive their cars thru flooded intersections, getting flooded out, and the reporter reporting about it like its groundbreaking news then interviewing these morons

At what point does a storm start to lose strength due to landfall?

A- Outer bands reach landfall

or

B- Center reaches landfall
