They had projected up to 9 inches of rain today but only 1-2 inches fell which is the reason for the drop on Barker and Addicks.

I can never remember if the USGS uses projected rainfall totals or only rainfall that has fallen in their river forecasts. That makes sense though. They also basically doubled the release rates at the dams.

Barker is no longer releasing water into Buffalo Bayou in an uncontrolled manner and Addicks is only minimally spilling over in an uncontrolled manner.

I'm not sure Barker was ever having an uncontrolled release. The top of Barker is 104 and it never breached that height. Addicks was topped at 108, but only breached that by a foot or so.

Officials reported that the Addicks reservoir's water level rose about a half-foot between noon and 6 p.m. Tuesday, but engineers now think it's maximum level will be 109.1 feet. That is more than a foot lower than previously predicted.

Meanwhile, the Barker reservoir's water level rose about a third of a foot in that same period. Engineers now expect it to crest at 101.7 feet - almost 3 feet lower than previously forecast.

The slower rain Tuesday helped; up to 9 inches of rain was expected, but just an inch or two came. That allowed engineers to release more water into Buffalo Bayou.

The uncontrolled release from the Addicks reservoir is now minimal, the Army Corps of Engineers reported, and no more uncontrolled spills are expected at the Barker reservoir.

Houston Chronicle just released article on the press conference

Does that include Tomball?

I have an employee that lives up there and no one has heard from him since Saturday.

I live just on the cusp of tomball(off 249/spring cypress) from what I saw while driving around it should be good, but don't have 100% confirmation

Did it turn?? I think it looks like it???

Looks like it might be getting pulled toward the convection north of it. Since the north turn is expected, this might be the start. Which would put landfall somewhere, eh, just east of Cameron.

A friend is watching the water come up fast in wilcrest. Is there an expected elevation the water being released will get to?

Hopefully, this is the last night of this madness...

...THIS IS A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR JEFFERSON...ORANGE and HARDIN COUNTIES...

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 PM CDT FOR JEFFERSON...SOUTHWESTERN NEWTON...HARDIN...ORANGE AND SOUTHEASTERN JASPER COUNTIES...

At 833 PM CDT, Doppler radar continued to indicate a nearly stationary area of heavy rains impacting the warned area. Widespread flooding is already occurring. High resolution forecast guidance indicates another 10 to 15 inches of rain is possible over the remainder of the night. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange, Nederland, Groves, Port Neches, Lumberton, Vidor, Bridge City, Silsbee, West Orange, Kountze, Sour Lake, Nome, Deweyville, Evadale, Central Gardens, Sabine Pass, Thicket and Saratoga.

Rds...

Explain something to me that I don't understand. This blob has been sitting over SE Texas since last night....refuses to move and hasn't moved while the storm is shifting east. It looks like moisture fizzles out RIGHT at the state line. It's just very odd to me the way these storms don't move while the eye is moving.

I'm completely convinced we're not going to get anything but a summer thunderstorm in LC.
