I just spent 20 minutes looking but cant' find it ..
People in the area affected by the controlled water release are on their roofs and water is still rising.

This is just absolutely devastating I can't even fathom how long and hard the recovery will be. This flooding covers 300 miles! Can you imagine the number of houses that need to be gutted and rebuilt? I mean where in the hell are people gonna go? How do you even continue to live your life?

Which release? Addicks? Barker? Lake Conroe?
I know in Addicks and Barker, the water is entering the structure faster than it can be released out. So the release is "helping" but the water level continues to rise. Just not as fast as if nothing was being released.

If either fails things will get much much worse. You also have the San Jacinto causing problems that aren't getting better

Yeah, those reservoirs seem like they are filled and backflooding/overflowing will happen if the pressure isn't released to Buffalo Bayou.
Sucks either way but it seems like letting water into the bayou to move east and eventually to the gulf is the best option.

I've read and saw video that Lake Houston is overflowing, and I also read that they are gonna release water from Lake Houston shortly.

No read it here: Non stop rescue requests in Houston. The dams have been opened for those reservoirs. People are trapped and water is up to the roof tops of some homes and rapidly rising.
