How long are we expecting the flood waters to continue to rise? How much worse is this expected to get for Houston?

Has anyone tried to leave Houston towards Austin on 290? My sister is planning on leaving from 610/290 and head to Austin. I want to make sure roads are open and safe (or as safe as they could expected to be).

Minimum 3 days and up to a week at the moment. If the rain doesn't stop soon we still don't know.

Blake Matthews with KHOU is reporting that Lake Conroe dam is now 100% fully opened which should flood additional areas downstream such as Spring Creek.

Most of those guys while in BR were loaded for bear and I would be too. Great guys ...just can be a little itchy.

Where are you seeing this? This could directly affect my current situation. I am dry now at mom's but we are across w.lake Houston from the lake. Pretty much everyone I know here is somewhere near the lake.

I'm trying to get FROM Austin TO that same area of town. I know I-10 is closed in Brookshire, and 290 is closed somewhere in Cypress. I have heard reports that you could get on 290 past there, it was wide open all the way to Austin. if you hear of a way through, please relay it here.
FWIW, I've decided to stay put til tomorrow morning at the earliest.

Pretty sure 290 in Waller/Cypress is closed although I'm not 100% sure on that.

I need the most updated road closures. Specifically looking at north Sam Houston west bound from 59 to 249, and 249 northbound.
