Have you ever heard of a city evacuating before flooding rains?
Did Nashville evacuate? Did BR or Youngsville?
No, of course not, because you can never tell where those type of rainfall totals will occur. The NWS said there would be catastrophic flooding, but predicting where it will happen with enough time to evacuate is basically impossible.

My son has a friend in Spring, Texas in Harris County. He hasn't been able to get him on the phone all day. Anyone know how things are there?

you have Brazoria and Galveston that would have had to evac first.
then Clear Lake , Friendswood, Pasadena , SOuth Houston
then downtown,East End , Memorial , Spring Branch,
I would never have been able to make 10 feet on the road
So many would have died in the cars
this was just mother nature reminding us who's in charge

You'd have to evacuate every county from Corpus to the state line, and a few inshore counties as well.
Thats about as much as the NWS could give you - someone in this 275 mile swath is going to get 30+ inches of rain, we just don't know who.

From my aunt that lives in Katy, Harris county.
They just said reservoirs will exceed capacity and homes west of them will be inundated with water for months. Water will start entering tomorrow. This is west of Barker reservoir and includes us.

Maybe an exageration, but Hwy 6 was shut down for 6 weeks while that reservoir just north of i10 drained after the storm last year

They just said on the news (KPRC) that they are going to start releasing water from the Addicks and Barker reservoirs starting at 2:00 a.m.
Water will start flooding into people's homes in West Houston early tomorrow morning.
If any of you live out there watch KPRC because they are going to be showing the maps shortly to show if you are in that area that's going to flood.
