If anyone does get enough flooding that they have to get in the attic, take an axe or something with you in case you need to bust through the roof.
The news just brought that up. Thought I should mention it here.

7" since midnight. On top of what I previously posted. Somehow, we have no water in our house, thank God. Now, there is a lull in the rains. As I look at the radar, I think we are in between bands.
My fears are that there is no where for the water to go. That is based on my amateur evaluation of the current in the street coming to a halt and water rising.

All that rain from up north hasn't come south yet either

Good advice, but how many people have axes lying around inside their house?
And a lot of the people won't have the strength to hack through a roof even if they did.
I don't know how bad the wind is right now but it might be wiser to get up on top of the roof unless the attic has windows. Easier to be rescued and you don't risk getting trapped.

The water is draining right now for us. About an hour ago it was 7 feet closer to my house.

How are you able to find out the level of rain in your neighborhood?

That's good. The real bitch is gonna be when every possible outlet is full and you start to get the backflow.
It drained some places the first day here too. Then it came back.

Do you have everything you need? All your important papers? Your firearms? Anything you absolutely can't bear to lose? A bug out bag? Get all those things ready, and try and put whatever personal possessions you'd rather not lose in the attic if you have time.
I hate to say this but prepare for the worst and make sure your family is safe. But if the water is coming up then there's nothing you can do.
Man my heart is hurting for y'all.

I have a rain gauge. I don't know if people may be reporting on nextdoor or twitter maybe?
