Damn.
My wife will probably be joining her within the next few weeks, but at least I had warning and have made my peace with it.

Well she kept me going too and I don't know how I'm going to make it.
Live in a way you think would make her proud and appreciate the time you have that she no longer does. Ultimately I wish I could give you more comfort than that but death and loss transcend platitudes.

i just saw this. you're in my thoughts, jim. hang in there and don't do anything dumb (well, except hang with us degenerates on here). you dont have 100,000 posts on a messageboard without interacting with people who care about you (unless you're owlie ;) ) so try to keep your wits about you and any bad thoughts you have, let us hear them on here.

True, heart felt condolences to you. And prayers. I don't pray often anymore but you've inspired me. Stay strong.

Jim - I am so very sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you are feeling, and what you are going through, and it is absolutely miserable. I'm 19-1/2 weeks into the journey that you have just started. My wife passed away on 8/24/24. We had just arrived in Montana for a 10-day dream vacation. Went to bed the first night we arrived late, kissed good night and her last words were "I can't wait to see all the beauty God is going to show us these next 10 days". Renee never woke up. 62 years old, good health, no indicators.
I ended up having to spend 3 days in Montana to get everything taken care of to get her body back home to Birmingham, and those were the 3 hardest days I've ever gone through, but I'm so glad I went through them instead of my wife having to do it. I never realized a human could cry as many tears as I did those 3 days. God was so good though, He put so many folks in my path that somehow knew I was hurting, they reached out to me to give me hugs, pray for me, speak truth to me. I could write a book of all the blessings I received those 3 days.
I'll be praying for you. The grief will jump on you out of the blue, at such random times, but embrace it as best you can, because we only grieve because we loved so deeply the one who is no longer with us. The other recommendations I can make are: don't isolate yourself, you may not feel like it, but allow friends and family to be with you when you can, even if all they do is sit there and listen to you talk, and realize there is a tomorrow, yes a tomorrow we really don't want, but your loved one would want you to move forward, and some day the sun will shine on your face again.
