Have a big problem with this. 18 year olds can lose their lives in the military but can’t go to a bar to try to pick up girls?

I would be ok with amending it to 21+ or 18+ with a military ID. None of the 18 year olds in bars in tigerland are military lol

Coming from a Southeastern grad, Hammond has always been a little backwards...

Ummmm, I’m guessing this wet blanket is NOT an LSU graduate.

Or, how about we bump the drinking age back to 18 and call it day. The U.S. is so backwards about this. Drive a car at 16, mandatory draft registration at 18, and even choose your own gender well before this lol.

So now an 18 year old can't even be inside a bar. I would have legit transferred from LSU if the BR City Council had tried this tomfoolery.

And yes, fake i.d.'s are very good now. They are easily obtainable and they scan.

How old do you have to be to be that afraid for 18-20 year olds having fun in college?

How the drinking age passed legal muster against voting adults has always escaped me.

No problem with 18 year olds handling C4, literal machine guns, artillery, mortars, bayonets, and combat knives in the military, but a beer is far too dangerous. How does this make sense?

I went to SLU on scholarship in the honors program to drink and hang out

The old Buzz across from campus... (Penny pitchers on Monday, mud wrestling, costume contests)
Mules (foam parties and live bands)
Brown Door

Lotsa poontang
Lotsa drinking at 18
Lotsa "college experience"

Made friends with a gas station worker next to my dorm (gay hippie) who would let me buy anything I wanted

Made friends with a taco bell worker who sold weed through the drive thru

Life was great!

Practiced law in the 21st JDC during Chad Scott's early heyday.

I never met him. He was always trying to stare me down when I was at the courthouse.

I think it's insane that we can ask an 18 year old to go die for us and our country on the other side of the world but they can't buy a beer.

Can’t military personnel drink at age of 18 with a military ID?

I can say with confidence that Kip Andrews is a complete fricking moron. He gets no support in the city council, just tries to rock the boat. This won’t pass.

Idk why having a lively downtown is in anyway a bad thing for a place as small as Hammond.

I feel the bar owners' issues because Southeastern is already seen as a "Monday-Thursday" commuter school so they need all the patrons they can get of all ages. Banning 70% of their clientele will wreck that downtown's bar and restaurant scene.

The insane thing about this is the Hammond bar scene isn’t even a shadow of what it used to be 20-30-40 years ago. For a college town it is basically nonexistent now compared to what it used to be

I feel that is common now for college towns. Lafayette for example isn't even a shell of its former party self, it's completely dead.
