Yep.
That’s what we do as well. The truck or treat has like 30 vehicles. They grill burgers and cook jambalaya. Beer is served for free and they have good music

I've noticed what seems like a lot of houses decorated for Halloween this year, which is cool.

Christ isn't into that stuff either.

It caused quite the stir when the Holy Ghost found out.

I used to get a big brown paper shopping bag and put shaving cream, eggs, and toilet paper in it. Then, I’d take a second bag and put it inside the first bag and roll the top down a few times so it looked like one bag. Pro tip: remove the top of the shave cream and replace it with the head from an aerosol can. It will shoot a thin stream of shave cream 15-20 feet with force.

Parents were not involved in trick or treating.

The trick or treating experience is shell of what it was for reasons mentioned but decorating lawms like its Christmas is relatively new.

I agree and who went trick or treating with their parents? Nobody. You went with your friends.

There are people around here with 14 year old kids with their parents..

I remember being in 3rd grade and running around the streets with friends and no parents in the early/mid 90s. Had a blast.

I’ve made it a mission as an adult to take back this holiday. I can’t help it if parents still need to walk theirs kids around, but I do stage some good Halloween decorations in the yard leading up to Halloween to get the kids into the spirit.

Michael Myers is looking out my side street window. Got the Ring girl crawling along my fence. Scarecrow on my front porch (that I am going to get in and scare some older kids on Halloween). Scream/ghost face peering out garage window.

I’m trying. Would help if others in the neighborhood gave a shite.

Neighborhood called the Flats downtown has an awesome tradition of trick or treat. Some of the houses give out small bottles of booze for the adults.

It's the best Halloween scene I've attended. Several haunted houses in the neighborhood.

This is the real problem that is ruining the holliday. Kids over 5 get bored with it because it’s just another night with their parents dragging them around, and parents just want to get it over with after 10 minutes.

When I was a kid, my parents brought me trick or treating because I lived in a rural area that wasn’t walkable. She brought me to a nearby subdivision, but then stayed in the car and let me and my brothers wander alone! Halloween was for the kids, but more importantly, it allowed kids to make their own fun and be independent.

One of the biggest social problems I see is children not being allowed to develop independence because our current society thinks it’s a crime for children to ever be without a parent. 25 years ago, kids were kicked outside and told to play until the street lights come on. They were sent out on bikes and scooters to explore...alone! The early 90’s were the most dangerous time in America at the crime peak of the crack epidemic. Now, we coddle kids all the way up until they go to college, and they freak out when they get there and demand the college coddle them. They have no idea what to do alone, and this falls entirely on parents and busy bodies who made it a crime for kids to walk down the street to their neighborhood park unchaperoned. Halloween being ruined was a natural consequence.

Unfortunately if you leave your kid unattended for a few minutes some hag will be on social media raising hell.

This.

Spank a child in a parking lot and see how long it takes the cops to arrive.

Not true. Originally was a Celtic festival celebrating the end of harvest and the coming winter months. It was believed it was the time of year where dead spirits could cross over and interact with the living so families had large feasts with spots open for their dead relatives, and neighbors shared their food but while walking about they wore masks or costumes to hide their identity from any evil spirits.
