Everybody in my hood boozes it up and it's like a huge party. I'll take it.

Agreed, it used to be much better. We didn’t have to worry about our costumes being pc, there was no such thing as trunk or treat, kids were allowed to be at least somewhat independent. We live in the safest time probably ever but parents think that present day is much more dangerous than it was a couple decades ago.

Lol I remember those days....you could actually leave a basket of candy out for the trick or treaters trusting and knowing they would take one piece.

It's a pretty big deal here. Several neighborhoods put on spectacular displays and go all out. There's a weeks worth of festivities.

Thank the Baptist.

Seriously, they are not completely responsible for, but I am speaking from what I have seen. The baptist church in my area owns a house right across the street from me. The preacher and family use to live there, but they have a new preacher who lives in Baton Rouge so he goes there on Wednesdays and Sundays and they have gathering there..

Anyway, it seems like they have promoted a less halloween event that is held at the church on Oct 31.

They are not into the whole ghost and goblins scene or promoting a "scary" halloween. They actually call it something else. I forget what they call it. I will check it out in a little while because they have signs promoting it.

And it's not just the Baptist. The Non-Denoms do it as well.

Christ isn't into that stuff either. But Satan certainly is.

I know we do this every year but it needs to be discussed.

This isn’t a church hating post but churches have ruined Halloween.

Trunk or Treat in church parking lots and “Fall Festivals” at churches on Halloween night have gutted Halloween.

It’s gonna be even worse on a year like this where Halloween falls on a Wed when most churches in the south already have scheduled services.

Halloween was awesome when I was a kid.

Best night of the year.

Now, no one even trick or treats.

I know, get off my lawn.

We still have great areas to trick or treat and have a great time. Some of y’all are so damn miserable.

And to the guy who said you used to be able to leave a bowl out and kids when only take one piece. LOL when I was a kid 35 years ago that bowl wouldn’t make it 10 minutes with my friends.

I walked with my nephew trick or treating last year. One house had a big bucket full of candy left out with no one there. Him and his cousin each picked out a piece of candy. His cousin walked away with a sad look on his face(they were 6). I asked him what was wrong and he showed me the candy he picked and said “I hate this kind”. We then asked him why did he pick that kind then. Apparently he didn’t realize you could pick the candy you wanted, Poor kid.

Kids get bused in from one neighborhood to another neighborhood.

See this a lot in our area of Metairie and don’t have a problem with it.

That's not many. My neighborhood and nearby subdivisions are usually packed.

Yeah, this never actually happened. Some kids take a couple and some take more. That's the way it has always been. The same behavior I saw during the 1970s and 80s is the same I see today.

I do feel like trick or treating is slowly being replaced with that trunk or treat crap. I think what it boils down to is parents don't want to be bothered taking their kids around the neighborhood

See that’s the problem though, why do the parents have to take them? Just tell them to watch for cars and get outta here.

It’s a little different in NYC. We took our three year old only in our building Last year. everyone is hammered and my kid had a plastic pumpkin full of candy about half way through the building.

Where do you live? Where I live some kids do trunk or treat on the Saturday before Halloween and then regular trick or treating the night of.

Hell no! Didn't your mom scare you about razor blades being found in apples?
