Sounds like he didn't want to be there anymore than you wanted to be woken up. Your like asking the bartender to turn down the dj's music at the bar. Just ask the dj to turn the music down. Or call the fricking cops, the real cops.

Can city marshalls even arrest in LC, I just they served papers
Found this:
quote:
A. The marshal is the executive officer of the court; he shall execute the orders and mandates of the court and in the execution thereof, and in making arrests and preserving the peace, he has the same powers and authority of a sheriff.

I just saw that the other day. I check that a few times per week so it got overlooked. I will respond back and we can go from there.

He is the law.
Not really what we want from law enforcement officers. That is how you become a 3rd world country.

Give people like that a badge, and they’re good for another 1000 ego points.

Him or the music?
The music would be LCPD but I resolved that already. I know the LCPD will be busy today and probably don't have time for a noise ordinance call so that's why I figured this guy, who is paid to enforce ordinances, would help since he was already here.

You could post it on the OT and we can see what happens

Though this is not applicable to your account, I felt compelled to leave this here:
Public Service Announcement: When formally interacting with a law enforcement officer, do not (even casually or reflexively) place your hands into your pockets, as I can attest to the fact that they do not view this favorably.

I could, but I know Chicken frowns on that.
I don't want to or have time to pursue it, but I feel like if I don't say something that is allowing this guy to continue to abuse the power of his badge and no telling who that could hurt in the future.

Call the city police and file a noise complaint.
Have that officer come out as once you call to file a complaint they have to come out and file a report in most municipalities.
That officer should look at the permit and determine if the noise is allowed against city noise code. If it is not then the officer should ask them to turn it down or determine if a citation needs to be issued.
City constable at this point working extra duty and not in service like the LC police officer who coming out.

What you should do is call University Police. They’d be all over sticking their noses in it. Mother frickers would probably arrest Jesus.

I probably still owe them parking tickets from 20 years ago

Louisiana and southern states are the only states that pay their Police such shite.
In northern and northeastern cities, it’s VERY difficult to get on with a PD. The pay is much much better. Training is much better. Equipment is better. And many of their departments require a BS to even be considered.

so I asked him if he could simply ask them to turn the music down to comply with the LC noise ordinance. He was too busy playing on Facebook on his phone and told me to take it up with City Hall who issues the permits
Typical bureaucratic, “kick it down the road” response.
