My prayer for you is that you will get a few hours rest, wake up with a modicum of increased clarity, and find your fundraising goal has been met. Helping in a small way to lift the weight of the immediate need you face related to placing your wife to rest with the dignity she requested is an honor.
However, my greatest prayer is that the small relief the financial assistance provides to you, will allow you to also take up the posters in this thread who have gone through similar trauma on their offer of emotional support and advice. That will prove far more valuable for you and your children in the long run than the financial support that helps solve an immediate need.

And FYI: when someone dies in your care/household, the funeral home you select to come take care of everything will most certainly give you an estimate before they leave. So I understand why money is on his mind the very next day b/c the funeral home won't complete the services without a partial payment/credit card/etc.

I understand your concern. But the guy is hurting and is desperate. I don’t blame him coming her for help. His wife’s is listed on the GFM so it should be able to be verified.

I've never dealt with anything of this magnitude. I have, however, been in a situation of lesser crisis when money is due and had the payment issue consume me with paralysis, even when the underlying crisis was the bigger deal. So I get it.
OP there is no shame in this. Don't worry about it. You cried out to the Lord for help and this is where the help is coming from.
