this made me cringe bc it’s a terrible generalization- I know many families where this is not the case
But if there are toddler and babies around, I could see where the Mrs. needs a break
i had an office job for the first 10 years of our marriage and have been WFH/Traveling for the last 10 years. she stayed home till about 6 years ago and went back to work. i was never a bum, but i didn't do my fair share for those first 10 years but that was the arrangement.
now i work from home, make 7x her salary, and do 90% of the cleaning, laundry, homemaking and probably 50% of the cooking.
i'm on a teams call right now and have chicken on the smoker and am cooking rice for meal prep for the family for the next week. while posting on TD.

I see that, but the laundry don’t take all day. You can run to the grocery once a week. That woman better be sucking the life out of him at his beck and call for that kind of life

There’s a lady that works with me that is 39 and pregnant with twins. She has 3 kids already and her husband works in west Texas and is barely ever home. I think I feel more sorry for her than anything else.

So what’s your point?

I do most of that. It's not a big deal.

it wasn't a counterpoint or argument. just to say that when the kids were younger and i was building my career, it was more difficult to have an equal share of the domestic responsibilities. after they got older and i transferred to a WFH job, it became easier to even out the responsibilities. especially after she went back to work.
my wife homeschooled for 4 years. bless you woman, joyful but thankless work.

No, but I run my own business while working on new companies.

My immediately family is 100% "husband works, wife handles the kids/household." In all cases, the roles and expectations are clearly defined. In all cases, it works extremely well.
The husbands/dads come home and dive right into kid stuff - not because they have to, but because they want to spend time with their kids.
What they do NOT do is come home from a long day at work only to cook dinner, do the dishes, and clean the house while their wives "are done for the day/get a break."
I'm not making a complete generalization - I've seen the exception at a 100% rate in my own family - but from my observation, it's more of an "exception proves the rule" situation.

The UVA woman is 39 - she has years to have children. What is your point?
Lots of women hitting 40 still playing hard to get.
You are running out of time at this age. A woman’s egg amount just goes down to zero as she ages.
It’s easier to get pregnant at 18 than 40.

“Many women are really surprised to learn how much fertility declines with age,” Jain says. As women get older, he adds, “fertility goes down, miscarriage rates go up, and birth defects go up. It’s a more painful journey the older a woman gets.”
Millions of women out there don’t know this.

It’s becoming more common for women to have kids in their 40s due to science and fertility clinics
I think something like 10% of births are women 40 and older now. Used to be 1%

1 in 100 is 1% chance that’s still not really a big chance.
If you could bet your life savings on a roll of dice that had 1 in 100 chance of losing would you do it?
