Do you think you just fly there and then fly back with a child?
Religious organizations will help cover a lot of the costs and it takes about 2 years to process through all the paper work, dumb arse.

i appreciated that she did them, and i enjoy doing them as well.
she's a teacher and i am a network engineer that sits in my office either doing high level security and network configurations or playing games on my phone or posting to TD while sales people talk and i wait to say something if needed.
i'm happy for the distraction during the day and for her to come home to not having much to do.

The idea of having a child graduate high school at the age of 58 frightens me. Parenting is for the young(ish).

unless it's over a Palo Alto Firewall, i'm out. My cisco and CCNA days of touching switches and routers have been long gone for a while.

When my cousin did it, they went through their church (Catholic) and they covered some of the travel fees and helped with some of the adoption fees but like you said, came nowhere near covering the full cost.

our government would be well advised to encourage, fund, and throw resources at adoption instead of abortion and IVF for a host of reasons.
not meaning to get into a large political debate with you in particular Belle, just replying.

The point is you're stupid.
Down syndrome risk increases with the mother's age:
1 in 1250 for a 25 year old mother
1 in 1000 at age 31
1 in 400 at age 35
1 in 100 at age 40
So a 99% chance the baby won't have downs.

1 percent chance at a major birth defect is high as shite.

And that is just for trisomy 21.
There is an increased risk of multiple different genetic defects, on top of increased risks to the mother as well.

I mean at the same time I feel bad for them. Modern feminism told them they don't need a family and it's all about work, work, work. Now, here they are halfway through their life with neither boyfriend/husband nor children.
