Nice but doesn’t deliver. Should not be in charge.

This (or something very similar) has been a project for landscape architecture students at LSU for many, many years. I'm glad this is finally coming to fruition. I would have liked to have seen them go with a more innovative LA firm though.

Will be great if it is kept up. Plants require care. My expectation is that it will be an overgrown mess in 1-2 yrs. Hope I am wrong.

100%

It’s already happening. That baseball park they built over has had 8 feet of water on it before. I seen it gif.

Is this where the light rail will pick up/drop-off to and from New Orleans?

I like that the rendering has a couple casually strolling on top of what is clearly a decal indicating that this is a running path, not a walking path

My eyes were drawn to fact of who buys jeans that have the arse bleached that much. Either that or he needs to lay off rubbing his arse on the ground.

Why put that much detail in an AI or computer generated mock up of a project for a pair of pants? It also looks like he is giving a Nazi salute to the art.

The city has discontinued the use of permeable pavement & walks due to costs

It’s unrealistic. How many days a year would people be able to sit outside and enjoy the weather like that?

Is this in preparation for the extra lanes or something being done completely on its own (ie: with zero consideration for the widening)?

Depends on the person, but more than you think. Assuming it's not raining, I'm comfortable sitting outside for meals, without fans or heaters, a solid 8 months out of the year. And that's for an hour, hour and a half long meal. If I'm in the sun during winter or the shade during summer, I would say 10ish months for a quick 15-30 minute "get some fresh air" break.

If they're still going with the same planting plan I saw a while back, it was a lot of chasmanthium, shield fern, and dwarf palmetto, with a few other things thrown in. Chasmanthum makes for a good understory mass planting that is low maintenance if you can keep invasives out. It's a pretty aggressive grass. I planted it along my creek and it's taken over and created a beautiful understory. It's really nice late in the summer and into fall when the seeds turn brown against the bright green foliage. Add in a breeze and it looks magical.

I've eaten at BLDG5, Colonel's Club, and Kalurah Street Grill easily dozens, if not pushing a hundred times. Somehow, I'm not only still alive, but I've never been in the least bit troubled by anyone. I must be the luckiest motherfricker on the planet, according to some of you

You really don't see many homeless, or riff raff too much in that area..

How close is the hood it's adjacent too? I am over there all the time, and never had trouble. Southdowns, garden district/100 oaks area are definitely not the hood.

What part of that area is "hood"? I've always thought that was a nice area.

I think you're confusing this area with the crack house neighborhood at College and Interstate.

I’ll never buy another pair of shoes or wear a shirt from there ever again.
