Never interact with law enforcement unless absolutely necessary. This tirade was utterly unnecessary and a really dumb idea.

If you voice your opinion on an open board then let the public decide if appropriate or not. How can it be intimidation just because the PD post your post? You should be happy your ideas are out in the Public. As Ron White said "I was arrested for public intoxication. I didn't choose to be in public I was thrown out of the bar into the public". Michael should be in Nirvana knowing the quips he gave are shared on a large platform.

I think they’re fed up with the abuse they get and this is a harmless, funny way to get back at these losers. But according to you, they shouldn’t do this because they’re public servants and they should just take the abuse. That’s asinine. They’re human beings and they get abused all the time and can’t do anything about it. Nobody should have to just take it. And if you read it, that idiot responded to EVERY ONE of their posts so that’s why they’re calling him out. And why the hell would it stop someone from calling with a real complaint? Makes zero sense.

“Hey there’s a guy trying to break in my house and kill me but I’d better not call the cops because of their Facebook posts”.

Expecting public servants to get shite on (including intentional instigation, harassment and potential violence we have seen) has and will continue to deter decent people from taking the job in the first place.

Police departments sure do love to shite on people on social media lately, so if they get shite back on social media I don’t see how that’s a problem. Would have better argument if he was following them around and interfering with their legitimate police functions.

Debatable on harmless, but certainly not funny. The power dynamic between the police department and a private individual makes this a terrible look for them.

Anyone who comments on posts like he did should be subject to ridicule. They deserve nothing less.

How is making fun of someone a violation of 1A rights?

He publicly commented on a public post and they simply combined those posts and made fun of him.

If you repeatedly antagonize a cop, the law allows him to kick your shite in, among other things.

If you repeatedly verbally harass the cops, they're just supposed to stand there & take it indefinitely??

No, it does not.

Because the 1st amendment protects the right to express opinions, without government censorship or retaliation. It could be argued that the PD making fun of the person in a FB post is retaliation, even if it was just low level in nature. It might prevent others from voicing their true opinions for "fear" of being singled out.

Greensboro’s PD social media has been goofy for years. They do some pretty funny stuff.

So, you admit that the law doesn't allow it. Correct.
