lso, i have an exemplary driving record overall. The photo camera tickets I received were ALL bogus, for things like going 24 mph in a 20 mph school zone on a Sunday, when no one was in school.
Should have fought it because they would have thrown them out.

False had my last one, which I had already paid sent to a collections company in Miluakee. The company in Miluakee is even more pathetic than the Arizona folks or idiots on perdido downtown.

I don’t have the time to fight a legitimate ticket, much less the time and energy to fight an out-of-state company like the one that administers these bogus ones... so in the short term, the city won since they probably got a total of $1500 or $1600 out of me... but in the long-term, i win since the ubiquitous traffic cameras were a factor in me vacating the city for good.

Do you have any other tickets? I believe the current rule is they cannot boot you unless you have three outstanding tickets but double check that.

No.

This begs the question, is it legal for the DMV to share your personal information with a private company? I don't know but they do.

Come on man, you know La. politics, grease enough palms and you can get whatever you want. Just ask Fast Eddie Edwards.

True, but they increase the fines as time goes on and you don't pay them. Once they boot your vehicle, you have to pay all the fines for them to remove the boot.

My dumbass stepson found this out the hard way when they booted his car and he had about a dozen outstanding camera tickets that he just ignored.

They do put it in collections, but it will never go on credit report and collections won’t pursue once you ask them to verify the debt because New Orleans won’t respond to debt collectors verification request.

How did you get it FROM Arizona if you “got” it in NOLA.

Seriously?

Not sure if serious but, um, it comes in the mail with an Arizona return address.. and an address in AZ where you’re supposed to send the check if you don’t pay it online.

They really tell police officers to go around checking license plates to see if people have outstanding tickets so they can boot them?

I think I would just change my booted tire out with my spare. Then take all the air out of my booted tire and remove the boot.

That doesnt make much sense.. by the time you go through the rigamarole and cost of dealing with the DMV to get a new license (or did you mean to say license plate? You said ‘vehicle license’) you’ve made a bad situation worse.. what is your time worth? I’d rather just pay the $100 ticket if those are my two choices.

If it’s the city of Scottsdale, yes. If it’s anywhere else, no, you have the right to have the ticket served to you in person.

ETA: nvm, didn’t realize it wa actually IN Nola

I don't believe it's the cops that go around looking for non-payment of tickets but another company hired by the ticket issuing entity who get a cut of the fines to boot cars.

And as far as I know, the only way to remove the boot is with a cutting torch because those boots cover the central part of the wheel and you can't get to the lugs to remove the tire. Cut off the boot and your cost goes up exponentially for destroying property, if not arrested for destroying it.
