In 9 months, instead of pushing her down the stairs, using a coat hanger, or going to Abortion clinic, just drive to Indiana, and drop the little booger off in a drop box.

Several OTers monitoring this thread closely.

Does it lock once there's a kid inside? An alarm go off?
What's to prevent some fricking weirdo from taking the kid?

Can I also mail my water bill in the same box?

this is at least better than some dipshit leaving a baby in a fricking garbage can.

From what I've heard of these, yes, it sets off an alarm and someone in the building immediately comes and picks up the child.
Very sad to think something like this exists, but it's better than a baby being left in a dumpster or some other terrible thing.

I find this incredibly....sad.

Any idea what happens if you go to drop off and the box is already full/overflowing?

They could have at least put in one of those air tube systems like at the bank so the kids could have a fun ride.
WOOOOOSH!

The root of the problem isn't being fixed, and the alternative is much worse.
Some will argue this will encourage people, and I disagree. And even if that's true, a parent who drops their kid there would most likely not be a good parent anyway.
The underlying issue that this implies absolutely sucks, but this itself isn't bad.

We aren't used to this so while it's hard to imagine, this really is a good idea. The documentary The Drop Box is a sobering movie. Highly recommend it.
