Live in the northeast and its been hot but the humidity is really low. I can keep my A/C on 75-77 during the day depending on which part of the house I am cooling. At night, we go down to 73. I have a fairly large house and our bill was $600 last month.

I don’t understand the logic of charging customers more than they can afford, so they drop service completely. If your objective is to recoup money lost in damages, chasing paying customers away is not the way to do it.

Kentucky Utilities is who we have here. The shite yall go on about is absolutely unheard of. My electric bill is $200 flat a month. 2700 Sq ft house. I just read these threads and scratch my head. Why put up with this crap folks? It isn't like that everywhere. shite is not normal

Is this the TVA doing work?

Lots of cheap hydro power available in the TVA. Except when they try nuclear or don’t know how to store coal ash and deal with the fallout.

Louisiana has the Mississippi River flowing through it, and has yet to find a stable source of trying to harness its power except for one plant near Morganza.

I have a few months, per year, that I run neither air, or heat. I run aboot $80 then. Normal summer is $110-140. We have been told that there will be a $20-40 fuel charge adjustment. The additional A/C use may bring me to the low $200's for July and August.

A small hurricane drops my need to run the A/C. It brings it from 95 to 80 outside.

My house is in the full, Florida sun. It is a little less than 2000 Sq. Ft., with 2' of blown insulation in the attic.

Talked to a lady who was a customer service rep for a small electric co-op in ms a few months ago. She quit because most of her calls were people begging for them to not disconnect their service due to nonpayment

Most people have no idea what it feels like to either put someone out of business, end another's current livelihood, or remove someone from their current home. It hurts the soul man.

We are on levelized billing but it's getting bad. 300 dollar bills on camps in grand isle where we are there for the weekend only. We have friends in the island in campers seeing 300 notes. Seeing 800 to 1000 notes for some friends houses.

Mine just went up another fn $100 from last month, up to $600 fn dollars. I ran the air warmer and changed nothing else. I had rarely ever gone over $350 before ever. I’m fortunate I make good money but holy shite how are people surviving between this, groceries cost, gas, etc.

I find these threads fascinating. Why the frick do you people have such billing issues with your energy provider.

i too find them fascinating, and i have Entergy.
I think some people are just fricking dumb and don't know how to read their bill. Entergy sends out their bill way too early, and a lot of times it includes two months worth. Also, if you aren't on levelized billing, you're an idiot. I think you can chalk up a lot of these outlandish facebook comments and high bills to those two factors.

You can literally look on your bill and see the comparison from this month last year to this year. Looking at mine, the $/kwh went up almost 25%, and i have an extra $20 charge for storm restoration that i didn't have last year. I also used 7% more electricity this year than last year. That equates to me having a bill that's $156 compared to $131 last year, which is about a 16% increase. If i weren't on levelized billing, my bill would be $253 instead of $156.
16% isn't anything to scoff at, but it's also not something that should cause the stir we keep hearing about from so many people.

At what point if you are blessed to have a whole home generator, you shut of electric power to your home and run on the generator for a few days to cut down on your Entergy electrical usage, while increasing your natural gas usage if those rates haven’t increased substantially.

To add to this, you should be also allowed to tie the genny into the grid and sell excess power the generator is generating to sell back to Entergy like you can with solar panels.

Entergy will take care of that. Just don't pay the last month's bill.

was under 400 last month. and so far this month, not bad at all, averaging less than 10 per day which is more than reasonable.

There was a woman talking to the city council. She said she has a 1300 sq foot house with new windows.. Her bill was $400.00+... How can that be? She must be running the AC 24/7 with the windows open..

I saw someone complaining on Facebook about their bill. It was over $700. They then posted a picture of the bill. They used over 5,000 kwh!!

How to you even use that much? I have a 2 store house with 2 A/Cs that ran all the time and we used about 2200 kwh.
