Jack Russell Terriers used to be a lot better dogs when everybody did not have one. My parents acquired what was likely the first Jack Russell Terrier ever in Texas. It was one that was shipped over from England by a Fox Hunt Club there that knew my parents.

Mac was a great dog. He would ride in front of you when you rode a horse. You can throw him upside down in the air and then catch him and he would not flinch. He was also a good fighter he took out many raccoons and possums. He lived a long time but a pack of coyotes finally caught him out in the open.

Mutts... all day EVERYDAY

I've got a Vizla mutt and she is the best dog I've ever had.

Loving, intelligent, and immediately obedient

I love almost all dogs, including pits but goldens are awesome dogs.

While Goldens are fun and goofy dogs, I'd say the Lab is the tOT A+ graduating as Madna cum barkey. Newfies, would be the perfect water dog, but I would feel guilty about having one in the south will all this heat.

Bite the bullet with one of the good breeders and don’t look back. We’ve had 4 dogs (2 goldens, a lab, and a border collie/golden mutt) and our current golden retriever is the best of the bunch.

More so than our others, he is extremely obedient, doesn’t chew on anything other than his toys, loves people, socializes with other dogs well, and is incredibly pleasant to be around. He can get worked up and hyper if you want him to be, but he keeps himself entertained when you’re doing other things.

Dropped a good bit of cash on him once all of my cheaper options didn’t pan out and I’ll never do it another way. At least in my experience, the breeders that are charging a premium do so for a reason. All the dogs in the litter with ours have turned out similarly so they’re onto something.

Golden retrievers are the perfect product of evolution and breeding. Penultimate example of perfection in animal form.

If goldens are only the penultimate example, what animal is the ultimate example of perfection?

I have 3 dogs, 2 from the pound and 1 was abandoned in our dog park. The abandoned one is a red heeler and one of the others is a Mcnab cattle dog and the third is mostly a white lab. All are dedicated to us and only leave our side when we go to the dog park. I could not find a better set of dogs
