Probable physical characteristics
The following physical characteristics are considered probable, but not necessarily factual. Only a small minority of victims described the perpetrator differently:

18–25 years old when the rapes began in 1976
Blond or brown hair
Blue or light-colored eyes
Penis size frequently described as "small" or "smaller than average"

Well we know he was never a poster here.

Who caught him? Who figured it out?

DNA probably. A guy TOTALLY off the radar. And it sounds like they have a confession now or some other collaborating evidence after interviewing him yesterday. Everything lines up. Might have been active law enforcement (Exeter pd) at the time. Looks like they have booked him for two counts of murder in Sacramento-JOSEPH DEANGELO (putting this here because it's now public record). Former Navy, served in Vietnam. Arrested in 1979 for shoplifting DOG REPELLANT AND A HAMMER.

Rape victim confirming:

Carson-Sandler said she received emails Wednesday from two detectives she has kept in touch with over the years informing her of the arrest.
"I just found out this morning," she said. "I'm overwhelmed with joy. I've been crying, sobbing."
Carson-Sandler said when shown the man's picture he was not familiar to her.
"I just can't tell you how I feel," she said. "After 42 years — wow!"

Maybe not. Think it's just the eyes and the smirk that reminds me of Conan.

Not sure how to watch, but the podcast Casefile has an in-depth 3-part series on it. And there is a podcast dedicated to the TV show called Unmasking a Killer, which is informative as well.

That sucks she can't remember him.

Also, they lost 2 police baseball games in a row to 15 year olds. That's why he started this spree.

Pretty much every crime podcast has covered this. There have been two recent miniseries on it on television. The most in-depth podcast is season two of CRIMINOLOGY which is nine episodes in to what was supposed to be 15 episodes or so. Unmasking a Killer was very well done, imho.

A minimum of 50 rapes, 12 murders (probably FAR more).

Coast to Coast did a show on this case because of a new book written on the rapes/murders about a month ago. It was a good show.

Also, probably the Visalia Ransacker.

I listened to a podcast about this guy a few weeks ago. It's great that he's been arrested.
