He was trying to kill himself with heart disease by too much red meat?

Supposedly he had several guns in his house.

I'm laughing at the stupidity of your comment that he was going to kill himself due to red meat.

Blake said "Baw had a roast in the oven." Your response was something like you thought it was a lie and he was trying to kill himself. So I made a sarcastic "suicide by red meat" joke because I didn't understand how cooking a roast could have anything to do with trying to kill yourself.

Help me out with how you connected a comment about what the guy was apparently cooking when he got arrested with an attempted suicide. I'm truly lost.

Hannah Arendt wrote a book about the men who implemented the Holocaust called The Banality of Evil. Her contention was that there was nothing remarkable about most of them. They were seemingly average Joes. Like a guy who would be cooking a roast for supper.

He was looking for a reason to go back into his house, where he had weapons.

So...according to latest reports, they put the unknown killer's DNA profile on a family tree site that caters to Mormon genealogists, found matches, then worked those lines back to find relatives who matched the age and location of the suspect. Pretty ingenious and also a little scary at what they were able to do with information in the public domain.

The LDS church has been doing the geneology thing for many years and the DNA bank for at least ten years, I think. I hope the cop who came up with this idea gets a bonus. It sounds reasonably simple to read about it now, but it was pretty crafty to be the first to make it happen.

Did you happen to read how long it took to get the results back, run down the possible suspects and then get a sample from their garbage?
