She may also have a hormone imbalance. It sounds more Bi-polar though. The next steps, if bi-polar, is she will begin saying I'm bored" and expect you to do a little dance or perform a talent show for her amusement.
The sex will get crazier so there is that. Soon she will begin to blame every problem of her life on you. At this point the great sex is no longer a factor. It is time to run, never looking back.
Hopefully it is a hormone thing and getting on the pill will cure what ails her.
Either way, you are not qualified to deal with all of her personal problems and she needs a little therapy. Convince her that counseling is for re-grouping, not crazy. Be prepared for her to have every excuse not to seek help.
All of this. It really is time to move on. It is tough to do because you probably still care about her as a person. My situation was a pain in the arse because every time she said I'm leaving, moving on, etc I was telling her that's fine, have fun. Bitch didn't want to leave!

OP, tell her to get her thyroid check. Sounds like she might be hypo.
Well the OT has already determined she is bipolar.
She really should go see a doctor if the symptoms continue. It can be so many things.

OP does not need to enable her behavior.
If he does, he sets (bad) precedent and has nobody to blame for future BS but himself.
correct
there are 2 options here...or more likely 2 very different levels of severity
if she has a legitimate form of depressive disorder, then there aren't any magical cures and she likely has to go on meds. enabling her depression does nothing except make her less reluctant to take meds or do anything to change. it's not her fault, though, so pushing her outside of the depressive zone is important.
there is a MUCH higher chance she is just having a minor case of depression and his enabling is allowing her to stay in that safe comfort zone. all these fake psychologists who are diagnosing her with bipolar are way off. there is nothing in the OP that suggests bipolar (and even the professionals over-diagnose the frick out of it). what OP needs to do is make her get out and do LITTLE things. keep her active and try to keep things positive. she'll snap out of it almost assuredly. however, if he allows her to remain mopey and negative, she won't because there is no incentive to do so. he's already giving her the comfort and attention she thinks she needs, so she will mold her behavior and mind around that

Skinner, a few have nailed the issue here dead in. Listen to them. Your GF is almost assuredly bipolar.
She is displaying all the classic signs.
You need to decide if you love her enough to deal with that ride now before it gets full blown. Read "The Unquiet Mind" by Kay Jameson for some great insight on what lies ahead for your GF (and you if you decide to stay).
If you think you love her enough to marry her, get ready for a roller coaster ride. If you're just dating her for convenient pussy and someone to hang out with, GTFO.

Yep, he's got some self reflection to do here. If it is just about the pussy and he's worried about not finding more pussy then he needs to suck his price up and get hookers. Much less hassle free.

can anyone show me the manic or hypermanic episodes of the girl in the OP?
Posted on 9/7/15 at 8:54 am to TygerTyger
All the classic signs? Apparently she is an actual functioning human being, so that almost assuredly throws bipolar out.

You are usually pretty spot on but are way off here. I was being a fake psychiatrist.
She may also just have blockage. A quick mud check in the shower would tell quickly.

What classic signs?
The depressive side? Sure, but yall are jumping to a lot of conclusions.

yeah she's a college student away from friends moping for a month. i am actually reviewing the DSM IV diagnosis of bipolar 1 and 2 and that is would fall under one subpart of a bigger variable of the diagnosis. "allllll the signs"

Nah, then you're stuck with crazy for the weekend.
Keep it to three hours max. That's about the limit crazy can be suppressed in a social seeing in my experience.

Yep, he never said anything that shows the "upper" side of bipolar.

i admittedly know little about psychiatry and its diagnoses, but y'all use the DSM, right?

Just wait, the hyper manic side is coming next. She will start to "feel better" and pop out of it, only to swing completely to the other extreme. The frequency of cycles starts slow. It speeds up as the bipolar manifests.

I use personal experience. When I say fake psychiatrist you should rely heavily on the "Fake". I do not even play one on TV.
That being said, I have known both that were real and they were all crazy as a shithouse rat, once away from the gig.
