There are atypical symptoms of depression as well. Your counseling idea was spot on. It has nothing to do with crazy, it's a mood issue that is difficult to control. It's like any other biological illness such as diabetes or hypertension.

I would take the statement "I want you to leave" literally and get the hell away from her. I'm giving you real advice. Get away from her. Let her become someone else's problem.
